Contact lenses if not cared for properly when inserting and removing drastic consequences can occur, some possibly vision threatening. This is why it is essential that patients follow the recommendations presented by manufacturers for disinfecting contact lenses. However, it is not enough for patients to follow the proper instructions. The multipurpose contact lens solutions that are available today must be effective when eliminating microbial organisms on the contact lens. This literature review will analyze the how affective the popular multipurpose solutions are at eliminating microbial organisms. A new contact lens solution will also be presented in this review.
