Download or read book E Voting Case Law written by Ardita Driza Maurer and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-03-09 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: E-voting is the use of electronic means in the casting of the vote at political elections or referendums. This book provides an overview of e-voting related case-law worldwide and explains how judicial decisions impact e-voting development. With contributions by renowned experts on thirteen countries, the authors discuss e-voting both from controlled environments, such as voting machines in polling stations, and uncontrolled ones, including internet voting. Each chapter examines a group of country-specific leading judicial decisions on e-voting and their likely impact on its future development. Reference is made to emerging standards on e-voting such as the Recommendation Rec(2004)11 of the Council of Europe, the only international instrument on e-voting regulation, and to other countries' case-law. The work provides a broader, informative and easily accessible perspective on the historical, political and legal aspects of an otherwise very technical subject, and contributes to a better understanding of the significance of case law and its impact in shaping e-voting's future development. The book will be significantly useful to anyone with an interest in e-voting, in particular decision makers and officials, researchers and academia, as well as NGOs and providers of e-voting solutions.

Download or read book Cambridge University Student Union International 2003 2004 written by Christian Kim and published by The Hermit Kingdom Press. This book was released on 2005 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although it is possible that some in the Cambridge University structure resent the infusion of lily-white Cambridge University with students of color, it is a fact and a reality that cannot be ignored. CUSU International exists to represent the needs of international students, who are growing in number. For many officers of CUSU International, they did not see their position as a vainglory position but as a real opportunity to make positive differences in the lives of international students who lack proper access, adequate representation, and real possibilities for advancement (in many cases).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a record of my life in and reactions to Libya during the two periods I have lived there: first as a British army conscript in Tripolitania from June 1950 to July 1951, then as a university teacher in Cyrenaica from September 1965 to July 1967. That there is a connection between the two Ñ that my second stay was the result of my first Ñ quickly becomes apparent. To revisit a Land of Lost Content is supposed to be a mistake, and I dare say it generally is. One thinks of those public school Captains of Games who, on leaving university, tunnel back as quickly as possible into the golden world of youth by returning to those same public schools as masters, and spend the rest of their lives training up new Captains of Games. But my return to Libya was different, partly because at thirty-five I was quite aware of the illusions of twenty, and partly because I came not to Tripolitania, the western province of the country, but to Cyrenaica in the east, which I had never seen before. And in Benghazi I settled down with my family and became part of a Libyan institution, rather than being a single soldier forced by circumstance on to the periphery of Libyan life. No one has yet written a wholly satisfactory book about Libya: the journals of nineteenth-century and later desert travellers, war memoirs, archaeological monographs, economic and sociological surveys, accounts such as Gwyn WilliamsÕs Green Mountain and Agnes Newton KeithÕs Children of Allah Ñ many of these give attractive and interesting glimpses but all are in some way narrow and partial. I canÕt suppose that my own account is any less so, but I hope that at any rate it gives some sense of the feel of this huge and still little-known country, so close to Europe and yet so remote. If there are more ruins than oil-rigs in the book, that is a matter of my own antiquarian tastes; if there seem to be more ruins than people, I have little to fall back on but that remark of Rose MacaulayÕs that she often found ruins more interesting than people. Ignorance dictates my sub-title: this book is an experience, a personal one, and does not set out to be authoritative and definitive.

Download or read book The Law of Higher Education written by Dennis Farrington and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2012-03-22 with total page 1325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by two leading practitioners, this comprehesive and practical guide to the law of higher education in the UK provides extensive analysis of the complex legal framework in which universities work and the remedies which may be sought in the event of disputes. The Law of Higher Education has been fully updated to take account of the many legislative changes which have come into force since the publication of the first edition in 2006. The impact of new charity law; changes in governance structures; developments in the law of employment; academic freedom issues; and the increasing presence of academies and other private Higher Education Institutions are all dealt with in detail, with reference to and analysis of the relevent case law throughout. Although focussing on UK laws, the new edition includes expanded material on the international context, which has become particularly important as institutions are increasingly involved in international exchanges and collaborations, as well as being subject to the increasing globalisation of higher education. The text is linked to the updating service on the Oxford Centre for Higher Education Policy Studies website, ensuring that readers are kept up-to-date with developments, even after publication.
Download or read book Shaping India s New Destiny written by Jagmohan and published by Allied Publishers. This book was released on 2010-04-25 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, the author, in the backdrop of his vast and varied experience, looks at the major challenges confronting the country after about six decades of her 'tryst with destiny'. The analysis done indicates how these challenges have arisen, how deep-rooted infirmities of the Indian state and society have remained untackled, how a leadership with a great vision and will has not emerged at various levels of public life and how the current culture of superficiality has prevented the nation from perceiving the dangers that lie ahead. But the book is not restricted to analysis alone. Nor does it limit itself to viewing the fall-out of India's failed 'tryst with destiny'. It offers a new architecture for reshaping this 'destiny' and looking forward to another tryst. Shri Jagmohan, with his characteristic candour, observes: "The light of freedom about which Jawaharlal Nehru spoke so eloquently on the night of August 14-15, 1947, was too weak to pierce through the darkness created by the heaps of garbage which India had collected in her courtyards during the long period of her social and cultural degeneration."
