Book Ruthless Consistency How Committed Leaders Execute Strategy Implement Change and Build Organizations That Win

Download or read book Ruthless Consistency How Committed Leaders Execute Strategy Implement Change and Build Organizations That Win written by Michael Canic and published by McGraw Hill Professional. This book was released on 2020-09-01 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When all is said and done, a lot more gets said than done. What is the antidote to this? Ruthless Consistency. According to Harvard Business Review, “most studies still show a 60-70% failure rate for organizational change projects—a statistic that has stayed constant from the 1970s to the present.” Drawing on his 20+ years of experience as a strategy and execution consultant specializing in midsize companies, Michael Canic helps committed leaders drive the odds in their favor. In Ruthless Consistency, he identifies the three surprising reasons most strategic change initiatives fail: Leaders unwittingly send mixed messages that demotivate their people and undermine those initiatives. Leaders focus on what they do instead of what their people experience. Leaders are not as committed as they think they are or need to be. The book then introduces an intuitive yet comprehensive model for success. Simply put, leaders who develop the right focus, create the right environment, and build the right team—consistently—are leaders whose organizations win. Finally, it details each element of the model and offers ready-to-apply processes, practices, techniques, and tools to make it happen. It’s a must-read for every leader who wants to implement change successfully.

Book Surf the Waves of Opportunity

Download or read book Surf the Waves of Opportunity written by Dietrich Legat and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2016-10-24 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are you managing a business or a business unit or is your goal to achieve such positions? Then this book is for you. It summarizes what I have learned about operational leadership over more than 50 years as a business manager and top management consultant: Operational leadership determines company success. Top management job is to spot the waves of opportunity and lead the company in riding them. Visionary and strategic thinking is required to spot waves. Operational leadership leads the company in riding them. It is like surfing big waves. To spot one is important, but success lies in riding it (operational execution) without falling off the surfboard. For success in operational leadership, you must do five things right, in a never-ending cycle of agile leadership: 1) Set the right operational goals to establish the line on which you want to surf your wave. You only need one single goal. 2) Plan. Build your surfboard. Design the right plan: Focus it on resolving constraints. Write it down on one single page. 3) Execute. Surf your wave. Follow the goal to deliver the obligations outlined in your operational plan. 4) Check. Review progress against your goals and execution of your operational plan. Go back to planning if the operational plans need to be adjusted. 5) Contribute the value required from operational leaders: Lead your Plan-Execute-Check cycle to spin faster than your competitors. Institutionalize the culture of operational excellence. Operational leadership is all about surfing monster waves of opportunity. It strains us to our limits. Yet it is the most fascinating and rewarding task in business management.

Book Out of the Crisis reissue

Download or read book Out of the Crisis reissue written by W. Edwards Deming and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2018-10-16 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Essential reading for managers and leaders based on Deming’s famous 14 Points for Management This is the classic and deeply influential work on business management, leadership, problem solving, and quality control, reissued for readers today Translated into 12 languages and continuously in print since its original publication in 1982, this highly influential framework presents the foundations for a completely transformational way to lead and manage people, processes, and resources. According to Deming, American company management’s failure to plan for the future brings about loss of market, which brings about loss of jobs. Management must be judged not only by the quarterly dividend, but by innovative plans to: • stay in business • protect investment • ensure future dividends • provide more jobs through improved product and service In simple, direct language, Deming explains the principles of management transformation and how to apply them. This edition includes a foreword by Deming’s grandson, Kevin Edwards Cahill, and Kelly Allan, business consultant and Deming expert. “Long-term commitment to new learning and new philosophy is required of any management that seeks transformation. The timid and the fainthearted, and the people that expect quick results, are doomed to disappointment.” —W. Edwards Deming, Out of the Crisis

Book The Analytic Hierarchy Process

Download or read book The Analytic Hierarchy Process written by Bruce L. Golden and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Management science is a di scipl ine dedicated to the development of techniques that enable decision makers to cope with the increasing complexity of our world. The early burst of excitement which was spawned by the development and successful applications of linear programming to problems in both the public and private sectors has challenged researchers to develop even more sophisticated methods to deal with the complex nature of decision making. Sophistication, however, does not always trans 1 ate into more complex mathematics. Professor Thomas L. Saaty was working for the U. S. Defense Department and for the U. S. Department of State in the late 1960s and early 1970s. In these positions, Professor Saaty was exposed to some of the most complex decisions facing the world: arms control, the Middle East problem, and the development of a transport system for a Third World country. While having made major contributions to numerous areas of mathematics and the theory of operations research, he soon realized that one did not need complex mathematics to come to grips with these decision problems, just the right mathematics! Thus, Professor Saaty set out to develop a mathematically-based technique for analyzing complex situations which was sophisticated in its simplicity. This technique became known as the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and has become very successful in helping decision makers to structure and analyze a wide range of problems.
