Book Consistency of Maximum Likelihood Estimators in Some Reliability Growth Models

Download or read book Consistency of Maximum Likelihood Estimators in Some Reliability Growth Models written by Bernard Sherman and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Properties of maximum likelihood estimators of parameters in some sample reliability growth models are investigated. In one model the underlying process is a Markov chain and the estimator of the single unknown parameter is proved consistent. In another model it is shown that no estimators can be consistent. Related estimation problems in sequences of geometric distributions are discussed. (Author).

Book Design Testing and Estimation in Complex Experimentation Ii Reliability Growth Processes Estimation Theory and Decisiontheoretic Formulations

Download or read book Design Testing and Estimation in Complex Experimentation Ii Reliability Growth Processes Estimation Theory and Decisiontheoretic Formulations written by Bernard Sherman and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Properties of maximum-likelihood estimators of parameters of reliability growth processes are investigated. It is shown that the maximum-likelihood estimator for a simple process involving a single failure mode is not consistent. For a modification of this process, a proof of consistency is sketched. Decision-theoretic studies of reliability growth have included investigations of the minimum-loss redesign policy, single-stage improvement models, and optimum effort for reliability growth. Download or read book Reliability Growth written by Panel on Reliability Growth Methods for Defense Systems and published by National Academy Press. This book was released on 2015-03-01 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A high percentage of defense systems fail to meet their reliability requirements. This is a serious problem for the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), as well as the nation. Those systems are not only less likely to successfully carry out their intended missions, but they also could endanger the lives of the operators. Furthermore, reliability failures discovered after deployment can result in costly and strategic delays and the need for expensive redesign, which often limits the tactical situations in which the system can be used. Finally, systems that fail to meet their reliability requirements are much more likely to need additional scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and to need more spare parts and possibly replacement systems, all of which can substantially increase the life-cycle costs of a system. Beginning in 2008, DOD undertook a concerted effort to raise the priority of reliability through greater use of design for reliability techniques, reliability growth testing, and formal reliability growth modeling, by both the contractors and DOD units. To this end, handbooks, guidances, and formal memoranda were revised or newly issued to reduce the frequency of reliability deficiencies for defense systems in operational testing and the effects of those deficiencies. "Reliability Growth" evaluates these recent changes and, more generally, assesses how current DOD principles and practices could be modified to increase the likelihood that defense systems will satisfy their reliability requirements. This report examines changes to the reliability requirements for proposed systems; defines modern design and testing for reliability; discusses the contractor's role in reliability testing; and summarizes the current state of formal reliability growth modeling. The recommendations of "Reliability Growth" will improve the reliability of defense systems and protect the health of the valuable personnel who operate them.

Book Recent Advances in Life Testing and Reliability

Download or read book Recent Advances in Life Testing and Reliability written by N. Balakrishnan and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2023-07-21 with total page 662 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This unique volume presents chapters written on the areas of life-testing and reliability by many well-known researchers who have contributed significantly to these two areas over the years. Chapters cover a wide range of topics such as inference under censoring and truncation, reliability growth models, designs to improve quality, prediction techniques, Bayesian analysis of reliability, multivariate methods, accelerated testing, and more. The book is written in an easy-to-follow style, first presenting the necessary theoretical details and then illustrating the methods with a numerical examples wherever possible. Many tables and graphs that are essential for the use of some of the new methodologies are presented throughout the volume. Numerous examples provide the reader with a clear understanding of the methods presented as well as with insight into the applications of these results.

Book Confidence Intervals for the Reliability Correction Factor

Download or read book Confidence Intervals for the Reliability Correction Factor written by Paul R. Milch and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 604 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whenever extensive test data collected under non-environmental conditions must be used to infer results valid under environmental conditions, the problem of estimation of a correction factor to transform non-environmental results into environmental ones will arise. The ratio of mean times under environmental and non-environmental conditions was termed the K-factor. This report presents a solution to the problem of building exact confidence intervals for the K-factor for the case when time is measured in cycles. This was the remaining open question in the problem of point and interval estimation of the K-factor.
