Book Faith s Journey Confronts Obstacles

Download or read book Faith s Journey Confronts Obstacles written by R. C. Jette and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2019-05-01 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many Christians lack understanding of faith's journey, how God's soldiers are armored, and how to be prepared for spiritual warfare. Little knowledge in this area makes many go into battle unprepared, and they lose fight after fight. God's soldiers are doing spiritual warfare with natural (fleshly) means, which causes them to be beaten and confused, and (as Job) they sit believing that God has forsaken them. This book is not a repeat of Storms Are Faith's Workout: Preparing Christians for Spiritual Ambush. It will build upon the truths in that book to help strengthen God's soldiers to go to battle dressed in the full armor of God. There are no shortcuts to overcoming in this life, and many obstacles must be faced. In the pages of this book, God's soldiers will gain the understanding of how faith works and the necessity for God's armor in facing whatever obstacle the devil has put in their path. When the book is finished, God's soldiers will have confidence in God and in his armor. They will be emboldened to stand firm, confront any obstacle, and overcome it by faith!

Book excerpt: The perfect gift! A specially priced, beautifully designed hardcover edition of The Joy of the Gospel with a foreword by Robert Barron and an afterword by James Martin, SJ. “The joy of the gospel fills the hearts and lives of all who encounter Jesus… In this Exhortation I wish to encourage the Christian faithful to embark upon a new chapter of evangelization marked by this joy, while pointing out new paths for the Church’s journey in years to come.” – Pope Francis This special edition of Pope Francis's popular message of hope explores themes that are important for believers in the 21st century. Examining the many obstacles to faith and what can be done to overcome those hurdles, he emphasizes the importance of service to God and all his creation. Advocating for “the homeless, the addicted, refugees, indigenous peoples, the elderly who are increasingly isolated and abandoned,” the Holy Father shows us how to respond to poverty and current economic challenges that affect us locally and globally. Ultimately, Pope Francis demonstrates how to develop a more personal relationship with Jesus Christ, “to recognize the traces of God’s Spirit in events great and small.” Profound in its insight, yet warm and accessible in its tone, The Joy of the Gospel is a call to action to live a life motivated by divine love and, in turn, to experience heaven on earth. You might be crushed by shame over your mental illness, only to be told by well-meaning Christians to “choose joy” and “pray more.” So you beg God to take away the pain, but nothing eases the ache inside. As darkness lingers and color drains from your world, you’re left wondering if God has abandoned you. You just want a way out. But there’s hope. In I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die, Sarah J. Beautifully written and full of hard-won wisdom, I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die offers a path toward a rich, hope-filled life in Christ, even when healing doesn’t look like what you expect.

Book The Bible Story Handbook

Download or read book The Bible Story Handbook written by John H. Walton and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2010-09-03 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do Sunday school teachers lead children through the stories of Cain and Abel or Judas’s betrayal in a way that reflects the authority of Scripture? Sunday school curricula often glosses over difficult lessons or focuses too much on characters in Bible stories, neglecting God’s self-revelation in Scripture. John and Kim Walton have created this handbook for 175 Bible stories to assist teachers and parents in knowing what each story teaches and how to present it in a God-centered way. As they work their way through the Bible, the Waltons examine seven elements in each story: focus, theme, application, place in the Bible, interpretational issues, historical and cultural background, and age-group appropriateness. The Bible Story Handbook includes introductory articles on why we teach the Bible, right and wrong ways to use the Bible, and ends with a two-year teaching plan. Every parent and Sunday school teacher will find this unique resource to be invaluable in teaching children to know and love God.

Book God Purpose and Reality

Download or read book God Purpose and Reality written by John Bishop and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2023-01-01 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What must reality be like if the God of Abrahamic theism exists? How could the worldview of Abrahamic theism be understood if not in terms of the existence of a supremely powerful, knowledgeable, and good personal being? John Bishop and Ken Perszyk argue that it is reasonable to reject what many analytic philosophers take to be the standard conception of God as the 'personal omniGod'. They argue that a version of a 'logical' Argument from Evil is still very much in play, contrary to the widely held view that this line of argument is bankrupt. This book provides a new presentation and defence of the alternative that Bishop and Perszyk have called euteleology. Its core claims are that reality is inherently purposive, and that the Universe exists ultimately because its overall end (telos), which is the supreme good, is made concretely real within it. There is no supreme agent ('standing by' while horrors take place); God is 'no-thing' in euteleology's basic ontology. Rather, talk of God-as-a-personal-being is a cognitive construction, treating ultimate reality by analogy with our ordinary ways of experiencing and talking about the world. But euteleological theism is also emphatically realist. Analogizing God-talk enables humans to align themselves with reality and is aptly deployed in prayer and worship-practices whose broad function is a human contribution to, and enjoyment of, the fulfilment of reality's inherent ultimate purpose.
