But when he finds himself at Chadwick’s farm, all that changes… Falling in love with the farmer’s daughter wasn’t part of his plans. But when they’re found in an intimate embrace, his troubles are only just beginning… Framed and imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit, Charles must clear his name. But a twist of fate means he has far more to worry about than securing his freedom… Condemned by Fate is a short story prequel to The Ambition & Destiny Series, a Victorian Era family saga. Book Redemption Through the Eyes of the Condemned

Download or read book Redemption Through the Eyes of the Condemned written by John D Montana and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2022-04-13 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Not just another commentary on Romans, Redemption through the Eyes of the Condemned makes Paul’s letter come alive with a fresh perspective, from a context reminiscent of Paul’s—that of a convicted felon in prison. The combination of a seminary degree, fourteen years in a state penitentiary, and eight years of teaching Romans affords John Montana the ability to see parallels to prison life that can help all readers grasp Paul’s most theologically dense letter. Not only are terms such as condemnation, justification, redemption, law, patience, and hope all too familiar to the prisoner, concepts such as the old and new realm, the already/not yet tension, and corporate identity dominate in the prison experience. Montana’s surprisingly accurate illustrations connect these terms and concepts to prison life and help clarify not only the more difficult passages in Romans but will stir readers to a reinvigorated viewpoint that will help enrich their devotion to the Lord.

Hayward and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-10-08 with total page 700 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lives of the Most Remarkable Criminals was originally published in three volumes and sold by John Osborn on Paternoster Row. The volumes recount the lives, crimes and executions of eighteenth century lawbreakers. By '[setting] forth the entertainments of vice in their proper colours', the volumes were intended to provide a moral banister and reminder that, far from treading a glamorous road of pleasure, the path taken by a criminal was in fact a highway to the gallows. The original prefaces to the books, and the tales themselves, also provide invaluable insights into the history of Crown Law at the time, the grounds on which it was founded, the methods by which it prosecuted, and the judgements inflicted on criminals accordingly. This is a reprint of Arthur L. Hayward's 1927 reissue of the three volumes in one.

Book Condemned to Repeat

Download or read book Condemned to Repeat written by Fiona Terry and published by Cornell University Press. This book was released on 2013-05-15 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Humanitarian groups have failed, Fiona Terry believes, to face up to the core paradox of their activity: humanitarian action aims to alleviate suffering, but by inadvertently sustaining conflict it potentially prolongs suffering. In Condemned to Repeat?, Terry examines the side-effects of intervention by aid organizations and points out the need to acknowledge the political consequences of the choice to give aid. The author makes the controversial claim that aid agencies act as though the initial decision to supply aid satisfies any need for ethical discussion and are often blind to the moral quandaries of aid. Terry focuses on four historically relevant cases: Rwandan camps in Zaire, Afghan camps in Pakistan, Salvadoran and Nicaraguan camps in Honduras, and Cambodian camps in Thailand. Terry was the head of the French section of Medecins sans frontieres (Doctors Without Borders) when it withdrew from the Rwandan refugee camps in Zaire because aid intended for refugees actually strengthened those responsible for perpetrating genocide. This book contains documents from the former Rwandan army and government that were found in the refugee camps after they were attacked in late 1996. This material illustrates how combatants manipulate humanitarian action to their benefit. Condemned to Repeat? makes clear that the paradox of aid demands immediate attention by organizations and governments around the world. The author stresses that, if international agencies are to meet the needs of populations in crisis, their organizational behavior must adjust to the wider political and socioeconomic contexts in which aid occurs.

  • Pages : 280 pages

Download or read book Condemned to Repeat it written by Sheldon R. Anderson and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2008 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Condemned to Repeat It addresses six historical myths that underwrote U.S. containment policy during the Cold War. The collapse of the Soviet empire seemed to confirm the wisdom of U.S. containment policy and these lessons of history as universal truths that still influence U.S. foreign policy thinking today. A European states system based on realism, balance-of-power, raison d'etat, and great power diplomacy did not keep a "long peace" from 1815 to 1914. The punitive Versailles Treaty with Germany did not cause the rise of Adolf Hitler and World War II. Erroneous analogies to Neville Chamberlain's failed attempt to avert war at Munich in 1938 worked its way into virtually every debate on the use of force to stop communist aggression during the Cold War. Franklin Roosevelt did not "give away" Eastern Europe to Stalin at the Yalta Conference in 1945. The conventional version of Yalta as a deal to divide Europe is fictional. U.S. containment policy did not create a stable bipolar world and, like the nineteenth-century balance-of power system, preserve another "long peace" for forty-five years after World War II. Ronald Reagan's military build-up and ideological crusade against the Soviet Union did not cause the fall of communism in 1989. Mikhail Gorbachev gave up the Soviet Empire. The Reagan "victory school" version of the end of the Cold War has given American leaders the dubious belief that the United States alone possesses the power to create a liberal democratic, free market world order. Condemned to Repeat It appeals to anyone with an interest in the legacy of the Cold War, including undergraduate students.

Book Jonathan Edwards s Turn from the Classic Reformed Tradition of Freedom of the Will

Download or read book Jonathan Edwards s Turn from the Classic Reformed Tradition of Freedom of the Will written by Philip John Fisk and published by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht. This book was released on 2016-07-11 with total page 442 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Philip J. Fisk offers a critical reappraisal of Jonathan Edwards's Freedom of Will, interpreting Edwards from within his own tradition, Reformed Orthodoxy (±1550-1750), avoiding the outdated paradigms of the conventional interpretation of Edwards and his tradition, a so-called deterministic, reconciliationist Calvinism, and demonstrating from primary sources, such as Harvard and Yale commencement theses and quaestiones, that Edwards departed ways with Reformed Orthodoxy's robust and highly nuanced view of freedom of will, contingency, and necessity.
