A further aim of this in vestigation will be to determine, if possible, the exact usage of the relative after such antecedents as have been mentioned above. The period cov ered is the eighteenth century, though two earlier authors, Abraham de Sta Clara and Grimmelshausen, are added to throw additional light on the development, if any, that has been going on.
