Download or read book Quantum Mechanics Volume 3 written by Claude Cohen-Tannoudji and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-12-16 with total page 790 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new, third volume of Cohen-Tannoudji's groundbreaking textbook covers advanced topics of quantum mechanics such as uncorrelated and correlated identical particles, the quantum theory of the electromagnetic field, absorption, emission and scattering of photons by atoms, and quantum entanglement. Written in a didactically unrivalled manner, the textbook explains the fundamental concepts in seven chapters which are elaborated in accompanying complements that provide more detailed discussions, examples and applications. * Completing the success story: the third and final volume of the quantum mechanics textbook written by 1997 Nobel laureate Claude Cohen-Tannoudji and his colleagues Bernard Diu and Franck Laloë * As easily comprehensible as possible: all steps of the physical background and its mathematical representation are spelled out explicitly * Comprehensive: in addition to the fundamentals themselves, the books comes with a wealth of elaborately explained examples and applications Claude Cohen-Tannoudji was a researcher at the Kastler-Brossel laboratory of the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris where he also studied and received his PhD in 1962. In 1973 he became Professor of atomic and molecular physics at the Collège des France. His main research interests were optical pumping, quantum optics and atom-photon interactions. In 1997, Claude Cohen-Tannoudji, together with Steven Chu and William D. Phillips, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for his research on laser cooling and trapping of neutral atoms. Bernard Diu was Professor at the Denis Diderot University (Paris VII). He was engaged in research at the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics and High Energy where his focus was on strong interactions physics and statistical mechanics. Franck Laloë was a researcher at the Kastler-Brossel laboratory of the Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris. His first assignment was with the University of Paris VI before he was appointed to the CNRS, the French National Research Center. His research was focused on optical pumping, statistical mechanics of quantum gases, musical acoustics and the foundations of quantum mechanics.

Download or read book Fundamentals of Short range FM Radar written by Igor V. Komarov and published by Artech House. This book was released on 2003 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here's a unique new resource that offers you a solid understanding of the fundamental theory, operation principles and applications of short-range frequency modulated continuous wave (FM CW) radar. You learn how to choose the structural scheme of short-range FM radar, and determine the optimal algorithm of useful signal processing necessary for ensuring the technical characteristic of radar. Moreover, this practical reference shows you how to ensure the minimum level of radar signal parasitic amplitude, calculate modulation signal distortion, and compensate for nonlinear distortion.

Download or read book Low Frequency Scattering written by George Dassios and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2000 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scattering theory deals with the interactions of waves with obstacles in their path, and low frequency scattering occurs when the obstacles involved are very small. This book gives an overview of the subject for graduates and researchers, for the first time unifying the theories covering acoustic, electromagnetic and elastic waves.
Download or read book Nitroxides written by Olivier Ouari and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2021-05-13 with total page 611 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nitroxides are versatile small organic molecules possessing a stabilised free radical. With their unpaired electron spin they display a unique reactivity towards various environmental factors, enabling a diverse range of applications. They have uses as synthetic tools, such as catalysts or building blocks; imaging agents and probes in biomedicine and materials science; for medicinal antioxidant applications; and in energy storage. Polynitroxides (polymers bearing pendant nitroxide sidechains) have been used in organic radical batteries, oxidation catalysts and in exchange reactions for constructing complex architectures. Chapters in this book cover the synthesis of nitroxides, EPR studies and magnetic resonance applications, physiochemical studies, and applications including in batteries, imaging and organic synthesis. With contributions from leaders in the field, Nitroxides will be of interest to graduate students and researchers across chemistry, physics, biology and materials science.

Download or read book Microwave and RF Design of Wireless Systems written by David M. Pozar and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2000-11-29 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: David Pozar, author of Microwave Engineering, Second Edition, has written a new text that introduces students to the field of wireless communications. This text offers a quantitative and, design-oriented presentation of the analog RF aspects of modern wireless telecommunications and data transmission systems from the antenna to the baseband level. Other topics include noise, intermodulation, dynamic range, system aspects of antennas and filter design. This unique text takes an integrated approach to topics usually offered in a variety of separate courses on topics such as antennas and proagation, microwave systems and circuits, and communication systems. This approach allows for a complete presentation of wireless telecommunications systems designs. The author's goal with this text is for the student to be able to analyze a complete radio system from the transmitter through the receiver front-end, and quantitatively evaluate factors. Suitable for a one-semester course, at the senior or first year graduate level. Note certain sections have been denoted as advanced topics, suitable for graduate level courses.
Download or read book Flow Sensing in Air and Water written by Horst Bleckmann and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-01-22 with total page 558 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, leading scientists in the fields of sensory biology, neuroscience, physics and engineering explore the basic operational principles and behavioral uses of flow sensing in animals and how they might be applied to engineering applications such as autonomous control of underwater or aerial vehicles. Although humans possess no flow-sensing abilities, countless aquatic (e.g. fish, cephalopods and seals), terrestrial (e.g. crickets and spiders) and aerial (e.g. bats) animals have flow sensing abilities that underlie remarkable behavioral feats. These include the ability to follow silent hydrodynamic trails long after the trailblazer has left the scene, to form hydrodynamic images of their environment in total darkness, and to swim or fly efficiently and effortlessly in the face of destabilizing currents and winds.
