Book Beyond Manufacturing Resource Planning MRP II

Download or read book Beyond Manufacturing Resource Planning MRP II written by Andreas Drexl and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1998-05-20 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The logic of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP II) is usually implemented in production planning and control systems and therefore has a major impact on the performance of many real production systems. Much of what practitioners complain about, i.e. long lead times, high work-in-process, and large inventories, is due to the deficiencies of the MRP II concept. Thus, researchers are eager to find better models and methods to improve or to replace the current status. This book contains new ideas on master production scheduling, material requirements planning, lot sizing, sequencing and scheduling, and production control. Management scientists, industrial engineers, operations researchers, and computer scientists have contributed to present the state-of-the-art.

Book Computer Aided Process Planning CAPP

Download or read book Computer Aided Process Planning CAPP written by Architecture Technology Architecture Technology Corpor and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-07-29 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Please note this is a Short Discount publication. Process planning involves creating detailed plans of the manufacturing steps and equipment necessary to produce a finished part. Using the variant method, CAPP groups families of parts by a structured classification and coding plan. This report summarizes the state–of–the–art and future trends in the area of CAPP. The computer is a vital part of the process planning function, which includes two different approaches. One is called the variant (similar part) method of process planning and the other is generative (expert system–based). Both will produce similar process plans. Most computer applications, however, are of the variant type, because the software is easier to develop and new process plans are based on previous ones.

Book Beyond Manufacturing Resource Planning MRP II

Download or read book Beyond Manufacturing Resource Planning MRP II written by Andreas Drexl and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-03-12 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The logic of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP II) is im plemented in most commercial production planning software tools and is commonly accepted by practitioners. However, these peo ple are not satisfied with production planning and complain about long lead times, high work-in-process, and backlogging. As many researchers have pointed out, the reason for these shortcomings is inherent to the methods that are used. The research community is thus eager to find more sophisticated approaches. This book is an attempt to compile some state-of-the-art work in the field of production planning research. It includes mate rial that somehow dominates the existing MRP II concept. 15 ar ticles written by 36 authors from 10 countries cover many aspects related to MRP II. All papers went through a single-blind refere eing process before they were selected for being published in this book. When we received papers for this issue, we discovered that MRP II is a topic about which not only management scientists show interest. As the list of authors proves, industrial engineers, computer scientists, and-operations researchers from academia as well as practitioners have contributed to this book. This, we hope, makes the book of value for a broad audience. We thank all authors who submitted papers. And, we are in debted to Dr. Werner Muller from Springer for his support in this book project.

Book The Evaluation Design and Implementation of an MRP type System for Pressure Systems Inc Commerce California

Download or read book The Evaluation Design and Implementation of an MRP type System for Pressure Systems Inc Commerce California written by Elizabeth G. Rodriguez and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Within the past 35 years, Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP-II) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems have gained popularity in the manufacturing industry. As businesses continue to seek ways to improve their overall productivity and profits, the popularity of these computer systems to support manufacturing applications has sparked interests of management in numerous small business enterprises. However, very little data has been reported on how successful these types of manufacturing sofrware systems are currently used by today's small enterprises. The purpose of this study was to evaluate, design, and implement an MRP-type computerized system at Pressure Systems, Inc. (PSI) located at Los Angeles, California.

Book Handbook of Production Management Methods

Download or read book Handbook of Production Management Methods written by Gideon Halevi and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2001-10-22 with total page 323 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This unique book provides a guide to the selection of appropriate production and manufacturing methods for postgraduate and professional manufacturing engineers. It starts by helping the reader to identify the required objectives of industrial management for their particular situation. Having identified the objectives an analytical assessment of the available production and management methods is made. The analytical system presents an objective method of production selection. For example, this practical book will help the reader to decide whether or not a local Just-in-Time process is needed or a full chain JIT method is needed. Alternatively the problem may be deciding between set-up time reduction or changeover time reduction. Should TQM be ceded to PCIs? This book covers nearly all methods of production and manufacturing and will prove the most comprehensive guide to choosing and using these methods. - Only book of its kind available - Widest coverage of methods available - Analytical approach to decision making
