Book Advances in Vibration Analysis Research

Download or read book Advances in Vibration Analysis Research written by Farzad Ebrahimi and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2011-04-04 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vibrations are extremely important in all areas of human activities, for all sciences, technologies and industrial applications. Sometimes these Vibrations are useful but other times they are undesirable. In any case, understanding and analysis of vibrations are crucial. This book reports on the state of the art research and development findings on this very broad matter through 22 original and innovative research studies exhibiting various investigation directions. The present book is a result of contributions of experts from international scientific community working in different aspects of vibration analysis. The text is addressed not only to researchers, but also to professional engineers, students and other experts in a variety of disciplines, both academic and industrial seeking to gain a better understanding of what has been done in the field recently, and what kind of open problems are in this area.

Book Theory of Unimolecular Reactions

Download or read book Theory of Unimolecular Reactions written by Wendell Forst and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theory of Unimolecular Reactions provides a comprehensive analysis of the theory of unimolecular reactions, also known to kineticists as the Rice-Marcus or the Rice-Ramsperger-Kassel-Marcus theory, and to those working in mass spectrometry and related fields as the quasi-equilibrium theory or the theory of mass spectra. This book demonstrates how theoretical parameters are related to experimental observables and describes the methods that are used to obtain useful numerical answers. This monograph consists of 11 chapters and begins by explaining the derivation of the expression for the basic rate k(E), with emphasis on the unimolecular rate constant, intramolecular energy transfer, and potential energy surfaces in unimolecular reactions. The statistical calculation of unimolecular rate under vibrational potential is also given, along with pertinent degrees of freedom. The remaining chapters explore the energy distribution functions appropriate to each system, the averaging of k(E), and the relations between theoretical and experimental parameters. Thermal reactions, chemical activation systems, and the theory of mass spectra are examined. The last chapter is devoted to the transition state and its ambiguities. This text will be of interest to gas kineticists, mass spectrometrists, and students and researchers working in the field of physical chemistry.

Book Behavior and Culture in One Dimension

Download or read book Behavior and Culture in One Dimension written by Dennis Waters and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-03-08 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Behavior and Culture in One Dimension adopts a broad interdisciplinary approach, presenting a unified theory of sequences and their functions and an overview of how they underpin the evolution of complexity. Sequences of DNA guide the functioning of the living world, sequences of speech and writing choreograph the intricacies of human culture, and sequences of code oversee the operation of our literate technological civilization. These linear patterns function under their own rules, which have never been fully explored. It is time for them to get their due. This book explores the one-dimensional sequences that orchestrate the structure and behavior of our three-dimensional habitat. Using Gibsonian concepts of perception, action, and affordances, as well as the works of Howard Pattee, the book examines the role of sequences in the human behavioral and cultural world of speech, writing, and mathematics. The book offers a Darwinian framework for understanding human cultural evolution and locates the two major informational transitions in the origins of life and civilization. It will be of interest to students and researchers in ecological psychology, linguistics, cognitive science, and the social and biological sciences.
