Book Computational Image Evaluation of Multi Square Aperture Optical System

Download or read book Computational Image Evaluation of Multi Square Aperture Optical System written by Ali AL-Hamdani and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2015-11-09 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The designers of optical systems must be able to treat the image quality in order to have parameters which they can control. The field of image quality analysis is concerned with the development of quantitative merit functions which can be used to calculate image quality in user terms from lens design parameters. The most two complete measures of image quality in user terms are the point spread function (PSF), which is the Fourier transform of complex pupil function, and the optical transfer function (OTF), which is the Fourier transform of PSF.

Book Fourier Optics and Computational Imaging

Download or read book Fourier Optics and Computational Imaging written by Kedar Khare and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-01-02 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is designed to serve as a textbook for advanced undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in physics and electronics and communication engineering and mathematics. The book provides an introduction to Fourier optics in light of new developments in the area of computational imaging over the last couple of decades. There is an in-depth discussion of mathematical methods such as Fourier analysis, linear systems theory, random processes, and optimization-based image reconstruction techniques. These techniques are very much essential for a better understanding of the working of computational imaging systems. It discusses topics in Fourier optics, e.g., diffraction phenomena, coherent and incoherent imaging systems, and some aspects of coherence theory. These concepts are then used to describe several system ideas that combine optical hardware design and image reconstruction algorithms, such as digital holography, iterative phase retrieval, super-resolution imaging, point spread function engineering for enhanced depth-of-focus, projection-based imaging, single-pixel or ghost imaging, etc. The topics covered in this book can provide an elementary introduction to the exciting area of computational imaging for students who may wish to work with imaging systems in their future careers.

Book Coherent Multiple Aperture Optical Imaging Systems Analysis and Design

Download or read book Coherent Multiple Aperture Optical Imaging Systems Analysis and Design written by Dana J. Bergey and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The imaging of simple objects through coherent multiple aperture optical imaging systems was investigated. Multiple aperture telescopes are a candidate technology for the Strategic Defense Initiative missions of surveillance, tracking, and kill assessment. In this thesis, the multiaperture images of edges, slits, rectangles, and circles were theoretically predicted and experimentally produced. Photographs of the actual images produced in the lab were compared to the theoretical images, and the analytical and computer prediction techniques were found to be accurate. All of the results were analyzed to determine how different multiaperture geometries affected the images. It was found that multiaperture geometries affected the images. It was found that multiaperture imaging produces edge enhancement. The position of a single edge could be found exactly, while multiple edges sometimes produced slight edge shifts. A computer program was developed tat predicts that edge shifts that will be observed when imaging through a given multiple aperture. Larger subaperture spacings were found to exhibit better resolution but produced more ringing about the edges. The possibility of rotating the multiple aperture system to gather more information was discussed, as well as designs that include a central subaperture.

Download or read book Computational Photography written by Ramesh Raskar and published by A K Peters/CRC Press. This book was released on 2016-05-15 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computational Photography combines plentiful computing, digital sensors, modern optics, actuators, probes, and smart lights to escape the limitations of traditional film cameras and enables novel imaging applications. This book provides a practical guide to topics in image capture and manipulation methods for generating compelling pictures for graphics, special effects, scene comprehension, and art. The computational techniques discussed cover topics in exploiting new ideas in manipulating optics, illumination, and sensors at time of capture. In addition, the authors describe sophisticated reconstruction procedures from direct and indirect pixel measurements that go well beyond the traditional digital darkroom experience.

Book Incoherent Multiple Aperture Optical Imaging Systems Analysis and Design

Download or read book Incoherent Multiple Aperture Optical Imaging Systems Analysis and Design written by Robert T. Reilander and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page 131 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Various multiple aperture optical arrays were compared while imaging objects illuminated with incoherent light. The aperture arrays contained from one to four sub-apertures. The objects were edges, slits, rectangles and circles. An emphasis was placed on edge resolution, and the author derived his own set of resolution criteria. Based on this analysis, a tight square four-element array was the best performer. The study concluded with an analysis of design criteria for optimum incoherent imaging resolution. Max sub-aperture size, min sub-aperture spacing, max number of sub-aperture elements, and a symmetric pattern were all determined to be desirable in order to obtain the best performance.

Book Fourier Ptychographic Imaging

Download or read book Fourier Ptychographic Imaging written by Guoan Zheng and published by Morgan & Claypool Publishers. This book was released on 2016-06-30 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book demonstrates the concept of Fourier ptychography, a new imaging technique that bypasses the resolution limit of the employed optics. In particular, it transforms the general challenge of high-throughput, high-resolution imaging from one that is coupled to the physical limitations of the optics to one that is solvable through computation. Demonstrated in a tutorial form and providing many MATLAB® simulation examples for the reader, it also discusses the experimental implementation and recent developments of Fourier ptychography. This book will be of interest to researchers and engineers learning simulation techniques for Fourier optics and the Fourier ptychography concept.

Download or read book Diffractive Optics written by Donald C. O'Shea and published by SPIE Press. This book was released on 2004 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides the reader with the broad range of materials that were discussed in a series of short courses presented at Georgia Tech on the design, fabrication, and testing of diffractive optical elements (DOEs). Although there are not long derivations or detailed methods for specific engineering calculations, the reader should be familiar and comfortable with basic computational techniques. This text is not a 'cookbook' for producing DOEs, but it should provide readers with sufficient information to assess whether this technology would benefit their work, and to understand the requirements for using the concepts and techniques presented by the authors.
