Book Benchmark Analyses on the Natural Circulation Test Performed During the Phenix End Of Life Experiments IAEA Tecdoc Series

Download or read book Benchmark Analyses on the Natural Circulation Test Performed During the Phenix End Of Life Experiments IAEA Tecdoc Series written by International Atomic Energy Agency and published by International Atomic Energy Agency. This book was released on 2013-07-01 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This publication is based on the experience of an IAEA coordinated research project on control rod withdrawal and sodium natural circulation tests performed during the Phenix end-of-life experiments. Presented in this publication are the benchmark analyses of the natural circulation test performed before the definite shutdown of the reactor. The experimental data gathered during these tests represent a unique resource to carry out validation analyses and code-to-code comparisons. The benchmark analyses allowed participants to investigate and verify several system and safety codes currently used in the analyses of liquid metal thermal hydraulics phenomena in sodium fast reactors."--Publisher's description.

Book Sodium Loop Safety Facility Experiment P4 LMFBR

Download or read book Sodium Loop Safety Facility Experiment P4 LMFBR written by and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: SLSF experiment P4 was designed to provide an upper-limit bound on the consequences of local faults. Three of the 37 full-length FTR-type fuel pins in the test subassembly were built with 10-cm-long, sealed fuel canisters as the center sections of the fuel regions. The fuel canisters ejected molten fuel into the bundle geometry, as planned. Each ejection was accompanied by an inlet flow deceleration and persisting flow reduction. There was no evidence of energetic fuel-coolant interactions or failure propagation through the hex duct. After about 90 s of full-power operation, scram occurred on low test subassembly flow due to gas release from fuel pins as a result of elevated inlet temperature and boiling in the blockage wake. During subsequent power operation, blockage reconfiguration and flow reduction occurred 10 minutes after 60% power was reached. The DN signal began to increase from the steady state level three minutes prior to the reconfiguration.

Book Thermal Computations for Electronics

Download or read book Thermal Computations for Electronics written by Gordon N. Ellison and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-05-13 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first edition of Thermal Computations for Electronics: Conductive, Radiative, and Convective Air Cooling was based on the author's lecture notes that he developed over the course of nearly 40 years of thermal design and analysis activity, the last 15 years of which included teaching a university course at the senior undergraduate and graduate levels. The subject material was developed from publications of respected researchers and includes topics and methods original to this author. Numerous students have contributed to both the first and second editions, the latter corrected, sections rewritten (e.g., radiation spatial effects, Green's function properties for thermal spreading, 1-D FEA theory and application), and some new material added. The flavor and organization of the first edition have been retained, whereby the reader is guided through the analysis process for systems and then components. Important new material has been added regarding altitude effects on forced and buoyancy driven airflow and heat transfer. The first 20% of the book is devoted to the prediction of airflow and well-mixed air temperatures in systems, circuit board channels, and heat sinks, followed by convective (PCB-mounted components included), radiative, and conductive heat transfer and the resultant temperatures in electronic equipment. Detailed application examples illustrate a variety of problems. Downloads (from the CRC website) include: MathcadTM text examples, exercise solutions (adopting professors only) plus PDF lecture aids (professors only), and a tutorial (Chapter 14) using free FEA software to solve a thermal spreading problem. This book is a valuable professional resource for self-study and is ideal for use in a course on electronics cooling. It is well-suited for a first course in heat transfer where applications are as important as theory.

Book Quay Walls Second Edition

Download or read book Quay Walls Second Edition written by J.G. de Gijt and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2013-12-02 with total page 658 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new edition of the handbook of Quay Walls provides the reader with essential knowledge for the planning, design, execution and maintenance of quay walls, as well as general information about historical developments and lessons learned from the observation of ports in various countries. Technical chapters are followed by a detailed calculation of a quay wall based on a semi-probabilistic design procedure, which applies the theory presented earlier. Since the publication of the Dutch edition in 2003 and the English version in 2005, considerable new experience has been obtained by the many practitioners using the book, prompting the update of this handbook. Moreover, the introduction of the Eurocodes in 2012 has prompted a complete revision of the Design chapter, which is now compliant with the Eurocodes. Furthermore, additional recommendations for using FEM-analysis in quay wall design have been included. In response to ongoing discussions within the industry about buckling criteria for steel pipe piles, a thorough research project was carried out on steel pipe piles fi lled with sand and on piles without sand. The results of this research programme have also been incorporated in this new version. Finally, the section on corrosion has been updated to refl ect the latest knowledge and attention has been given to the latest global developments in quay wall engineering. The new edition was made possible thanks to the contributions of numerous experts from the Netherlands and Belgium.
