Book Composite Resin Bonding to Bleached Enamel

Download or read book Composite Resin Bonding to Bleached Enamel written by Anand C. Patil and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The effect of different concentrations of hydrogel of sodium ascorbate on bond strength of bleached enamel for varying periods of time and the mode of failure was evaluated.Seventy enamel surfaces were obtained from 35 human extracted premolars. Specimens were divided into four groups: no bleaching (control), bleaching with carbamide peroxide gel, bleaching and application of 10% / 20% sodium ascorbate hydrogel for 30, 60, 120 min. Surfaces were bonded with a total etch bonding system and composite resin. Specimens were tested for shear bond strength. Mode of failure was determined by stereomicroscope. Data were analyzed using a two-way analysis of variance, and Scheffe's post hoc test. Sodium ascorbate hydrogel application following bleaching increased the resin-enamel bond strength and was directly proportional to its duration of application. However, there was no difference in bond strength with an increase in the concentration of sodium ascorbate hydrogel. Immediate bonding of composite resin to bleached enamel is possible after treatment with antioxidant sodium ascorbate hydrogel.

Book Role of Anti Oxidants in Composite Resin Bonding Following Bleaching

Download or read book Role of Anti Oxidants in Composite Resin Bonding Following Bleaching written by Asha Thapa and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2013 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bleaching and composite restorations, as combined treatment, form a conservative approach for treatment of discolored, mal-shaped and mal-positioned teeth. However, bleaching affects immediate composite resin restoration bonding to teeth. Use of anti-oxidants has been recommended to address this problem. Lately, alpha tocopherol (vitamin E) has been suggested as an anti-oxidant for this purpose. Literature wise, hardly any studies and information are available on its form, concentration, and application time and their relationship to its clinical effectiveness. Therefore, this book, based on a study, provides information on the above aspect. This book should assist Dental students and research scholars and esthetic and restorative dentistry specialists and general dentists in gaining knowledge and deriving the benefits to optimize their desired outcome in their field of application pertaining to tooth bleaching, use of anti-oxidants and composite restorations.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The evolution of orthodontic materials in the past 5 decades has been a unique progress curve characterized by periods of intense activity with many developments followed by long quiescent intervals. An example of the delay in adopting the advances in dentistry might well be illustrated by the acid-etching technique, which was introduced in the mid 1950s1 and became universally accepted in the 1960s. It took more than a decade for this practice to become standard procedure in orthodontics on a large scale. Infact, orthodontic bonding has advanced more in last 10 years than previous 25. In the past decade, we have witnessed unprecedented progress in bonding to enamel with various materials techniques and auxiliaries involving glass ionomer bonding, self-etching primers, and new, powerful light-curing sources, along with self-ligating brackets and a different treatment concept, the Invisalign technique.
