Book Anechoic and Reverberation Chambers

Download or read book Anechoic and Reverberation Chambers written by Qian Xu and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2019-01-04 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive review of the recent advances in anechoic chamber and reverberation chamber designs and measurements Anechoic and Reverberation Chambers is a guide to the latest systematic solutions for designing anechoic chambers that rely on state-of-the-art computational electromagnetic algorithms. This essential resource contains a theoretical and practical understanding for electromagnetic compatibility and antenna testing. The solutions outlined optimise chamber performance in the structure, absorber layout and antenna positions whilst minimising the overall cost. The anechoic chamber designs are verified by measurement results from Microwave Vision Group that validate the accuracy of the solution. Anechoic and Reverberation Chambers fills this gap in the literature by providing a comprehensive reference to electromagnetic measurements, applications and over-the-air tests inside chambers. The expert contributors offer a summary of the latest developments in anechoic and reverberation chambers to help scientists and engineers apply the most recent technologies in the field. In addition, the book contains a comparison between reverberation and anechoic chambers and identifies their strengths and weaknesses. This important resource: • Provides a systematic solution for anechoic chamber design by using state-of-the-art computational electromagnetic algorithms • Examines both types of chamber in use: comparing and contrasting the advantages and disadvantages of each • Reviews typical over-the-air measurements and new applications in reverberation chambers • Offers a timely and complete reference written by authors working at the cutting edge of the technology • Contains helpful illustrations, photographs, practical examples and comparison between measurements and simulations Written for both academics and industrial engineers and designers, Anechoic and Reverberation Chambers explores the most recent advances in anechoic chamber and reverberation chamber designs and measurements.

Book Crashworthiness of Transportation Systems Structural Impact and Occupant Protection

Download or read book Crashworthiness of Transportation Systems Structural Impact and Occupant Protection written by Jorge A.C. Ambrósio and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 624 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A systematic treatment of current crashworthiness practice in the automotive, railroad and aircraft industries. Structural, exterior and interior design, occupant biomechanics, seat and restraint systems are dealt with, taking account of statistical data, current regulations and state-of-the-art design tool capabilities. Occupant kinematics and biomechanics are reviewed, leading to a basic understanding of human tolerance to impact and of the use of anthropometric test dummies and mathematical modelling techniques. Different types of restraining systems are described in terms of impact biomechanics. The material and structural behaviour of vehicle components is discussed in relation to crash testing. A variety of commonly used techniques for simulating occupants and structures are presented, in particular the use of multibody dynamics, finite element methods and simplified macro-elements, in the context of design tools of increasing complexity, which can be used to model both vehicles and occupants. Audience: An excellent reference for researchers, engineers, students and all other professionals involved in crashworthiness work.

Book Simulation Driven Modeling and Optimization

Download or read book Simulation Driven Modeling and Optimization written by Slawomir Koziel and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-02-12 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edited volume is devoted to the now-ubiquitous use of computational models across most disciplines of engineering and science, led by a trio of world-renowned researchers in the field. Focused on recent advances of modeling and optimization techniques aimed at handling computationally-expensive engineering problems involving simulation models, this book will be an invaluable resource for specialists (engineers, researchers, graduate students) working in areas as diverse as electrical engineering, mechanical and structural engineering, civil engineering, industrial engineering, hydrodynamics, aerospace engineering, microwave and antenna engineering, ocean science and climate modeling, and the automotive industry, where design processes are heavily based on CPU-heavy computer simulations. Various techniques, such as knowledge-based optimization, adjoint sensitivity techniques, and fast replacement models (to name just a few) are explored in-depth along with an array of the latest techniques to optimize the efficiency of the simulation-driven design process. High-fidelity simulation models allow for accurate evaluations of the devices and systems, which is critical in the design process, especially to avoid costly prototyping stages. Despite this and other advantages, the use of simulation tools in the design process is quite challenging due to associated high computational cost. The steady increase of available computational resources does not always translate into the shortening of the design cycle because of the growing demand for higher accuracy and necessity to simulate larger and more complex systems. For this reason, automated simulation-driven design—while highly desirable—is difficult when using conventional numerical optimization routines which normally require a large number of system simulations, each one already expensive.

Book Acquisition and Performance of Sports Skills

Book Electromagnetic Bandgap EBG Structures

Download or read book Electromagnetic Bandgap EBG Structures written by Antonio Orlandi and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-05-25 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An essential guide to the background, design, and application of common-mode filtering structures in modern high-speed differential communication links Written by a team of experts in the field, Electromagnetic Bandgap (EBG) Structures explores the practical electromagnetic bandgap based common mode filters for power integrity applications and covers the theoretical and practical design approaches for common mode filtering in high-speed printed circuit boards, especially for boards in high data-rate systems. The authors describe the classic applications of electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structures and the phenomena of common mode generation in high speed digital boards. The text also explores the fundamental electromagnetic mechanisms of the functioning of planar EBGs and considers the impact of planar EBGs on the digital signal propagation of single ended and differential interconnects routed on top or between EBGs. The authors examine the concept, design, and modeling of EBG common mode filters in their two forms: on-board and removable. They also provide several comparisons between measurement and electromagnetic simulations that validate the proposed EBG filters' design approach. This important resource: • Presents information on planar EBG based common mode filters for high speed differential digital systems • Provides systematic analysis of the fundamental mechanisms of planar EBG structures • Offers detailed design methodology to create EBG filters without the need for repeated full-wave electromagnetic analysis • Demonstrates techniques for use in practical real-world designs Electromagnetic Bandgap (EBG) Structures: Common Mode Filters for High Speed Digital Systems offers an introduction to the background, design, and application of common-mode filtering structures in modern high-speed differential communication links, a critical issue in high-speed and high-performance systems.

Book Handbook of Energy Harvesting Power Supplies and Applications

Download or read book Handbook of Energy Harvesting Power Supplies and Applications written by Peter Spies and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2015-06-01 with total page 588 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the fundamentals and principles of energy harvesting and provides the necessary theory and background to develop energy harvesting power supplies. It explains the overall system design and gives quantitative assumptions on environmental energy. It explains different system blocks for an energy harvesting power supply and the trade-offs. The text covers in detail different energy transducer technologies such as piezoelectric, electrodynamic, and thermoelectric generators and solar cells from the material to the component level and explains the appropriate power management circuits required in these systems. Furthermore, it describes and compares storage elements such as secondary batteries and supercapacitors to select the most appropriate one for the application. Besides power supplies that use ambient energy, the book presents systems that use electromagnetic fields in the radio frequency range. Finally, it discusses different application fields and presents examples of self-powered electronic systems to illustrate the content of the preceding chapters.
