Download or read book Digital Transformation Perspective Development and Value Creation written by Małgorzata Pańkowska and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-10-02 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edited collection aims to provide relevant theoretical frameworks and the latest empirical research findings in the area of business management. It covers case studies provided by teachers visiting the University of Economics in Katowice, Poland, within Erasmus and CEEPUS Programmes. Over 12 years, approximately 25 teachers have been coming year by year to Katowice, presenting their monographic lectures and participating in seminars on their research results and educational achievements. This book contains descriptions of case studies, elaborated by Erasmus and CEEPUS teachers, illustrating that the case study is a method of research as well as a method applied in education and emphasizing the value of qualitative methods by example of case studies. The key benefit of qualitative research is that it allows a researcher to perceive and understand context within which decisions and actions take place. Hence, to understand peoples’ motivations, their reasons, their actions, and the context for their beliefs and actions, qualitative research is the best route. Assuming that business organizations as well as individuals are entirely linked together via the Internet, a new approach to business communication and marketing, business modelling and management are developed to reveal an increase of business synergy effects, the alignment of information and communication technologies (ICT) and business and social value creation, as well as sustainability and environment protection. Through this book, readers have an opportunity to learn about relevance and rigor in qualitative research and how the case study can be applied in various organizational contexts.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2011 the World Bank—with funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation—launched the Global Findex database, the world's most comprehensive data set on how adults save, borrow, make payments, and manage risk. Drawing on survey data collected in collaboration with Gallup, Inc., the Global Findex database covers more than 140 economies around the world. The initial survey round was followed by a second one in 2014 and by a third in 2017. Compiled using nationally representative surveys of more than 150,000 adults age 15 and above in over 140 economies, The Global Findex Database 2017: Measuring Financial Inclusion and the Fintech Revolution includes updated indicators on access to and use of formal and informal financial services. It has additional data on the use of financial technology (or fintech), including the use of mobile phones and the Internet to conduct financial transactions. The data reveal opportunities to expand access to financial services among people who do not have an account—the unbanked—as well as to promote greater use of digital financial services among those who do have an account. The Global Findex database has become a mainstay of global efforts to promote financial inclusion. In addition to being widely cited by scholars and development practitioners, Global Findex data are used to track progress toward the World Bank goal of Universal Financial Access by 2020 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The database, the full text of the report, and the underlying country-level data for all figures—along with the questionnaire, the survey methodology, and other relevant materials—are available at www.worldbank.org/globalfindex.

Download or read book E agriculture in action written by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and published by Food & Agriculture Org.. This book was released on 2019-07-15 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: According to Forbes, we generate almost 2.5 quintillion bytes of data every day. The next generation of agriculture heavily depends on data. The ability to capture, sort, analyze and extract actionable intelligence from large data sets to reveal patterns (human, climate, market) and related trends is an important emerging field. The increase in the use of Internet of Things (IoT) devices would only add to this data deluge. The Economist rightly called data as the world’s most valuable resource , while some calling data the new oil . Agriculture would be one of the major users of IoTs. How can individuals, organizations and governments build capacities and processes in place to take advantage of this huge influx of data. This coupled with existing data streams (weather, satellite imagery, markets etc.,) would create an ecosystem which if managed efficiently would provide rich dividents especially in the agriculture sector where the right information at the right time will make a great influence in the livelihoods of people involved in agriculture and allied activities. This publication looks at how various initiatives are leveraging data, related to agriculture value chains, to influence decision making and efficient service delivery together with addressing key building blocks such as interoperability, data sharing, data security and the necessary policies and regulations that are needed to be implemented to sustain the data ecosystem.
