Leadership styles, inter-sectoral relationships and the interaction between individuals involved in regeneration work are vital in shaping successful partnerships.Community leadership in area regeneration addresses the issues surrounding community leadership, describing, analysing and making recommendations about the ways in which significant people from local communities become involved in partnerships, how they exercise their 'leadership role' and how that role can be enhanced.The report highlights the importance of recognising diversity within communities and explores community leaders' own experiences of area regeneration programmes, looking at participation, capacity building, monitoring and evaluation. The report also argues that if government is to achieve its aim of tackling the problems of socially excluded neighbourhoods, a more bottom-up approach to regeneration partnerships is needed.
