Book Beyond a Reasonable Doubt

Download or read book Beyond a Reasonable Doubt written by Larry Siekawitch and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2020-12-04 with total page 93 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever wondered if there is anything to the concepts of God, religion, and miracles? Are you the kind of person that doesn’t just want to stick their head in the sand and be duped by someone who says “You just need to take a leap in the dark and believe”? I hear you. Or perhaps you are a Christian, but you have some doubts. I want to share the evidence for Christianity in a succinct, readable (with a slight touch of humor), and compelling way using the concept of American jurisprudence, which demands good reasoning but not necessarily one hundred percent proof to make its case. Average, commonsense people live this way all the time, and this book is for them. This book will benefit the average Christian, giving valuable information in a memorable way so that they can share their faith with confidence. It will also benefit those who don’t know Christ yet by its brevity, clarity, and persuasive nature. I begin talking about common sense using American jurisprudence and the concept of proof beyond a reasonable doubt. I then make a case using common sense to gradually move a person down the line from unbeliever to believer. I first help the atheist see why it is more reasonable to be an agnostic. Then I aid the agnostic in realizing it is more fitting to be a theist (a believer in a supreme being) than to stay agnostic. Next, I assist the theist into embracing Christianity. If there is a God, then it makes sense that He would reveal Himself in such a way that we don’t have to wander in the dark all our lives. Then I cover the thorny question of properly interpreting the Bible. I conclude with a satisfying answer to the legitimate question of why an all-powerful and all-loving God would allow so much evil and suffering in the world. Is there evidence for God and Jesus? I think you will be surprised.

Book Common Sense 101

Download or read book Common Sense 101 written by Dale Ahlquist and published by Ignatius Press. This book was released on 2006-01-01 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dale Ahlquist, the President of the American Chesterton Society, and author of G. K. Chesterton -The Apostle of Common Sense, presents a book of wonderful insights on how to look at the whole world through the eyes of Chesterton. Since, as he says, Chesterton wrote about everything, there is an ocean of his material to benefit from GKC's insights on a kaleidoscope of many important topics. Chesterton wrote a hundred books on a variety of themes, thousands of essays for London newspapers, penned epic poetry, delighted in detective fiction, drew illustrations, and made everyone laugh by his keen humor. Everyone who knew Chesterton loved him, even those he debated with. His unique writing style that combines philosophy, spirituality, history, humor, and paradox have made him one of the most widely read authors of modern times. As Ahlquist shows in his engaging volume, this most quoted writer of the 20th century has much to share with us on topics covering politics, art, education, wonder, marriage, fads, poetry, faith, charity and much more.

Book The 10 Commandments of Common Sense

Download or read book The 10 Commandments of Common Sense written by Hal Urban and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2007 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author ofLife's Greatest Lessonspresents ten principles of practical wisdom to live by, drawn from readings of both the Old and New Testaments for people of all beliefs. Readers love Hal Urban's books for their common sense, their wisdom, and their inspirational affirmation of timeless values. WithThe 10 Commandments of Common Sense,he continues to build on his central theme -- that there's a direct relationship between good character and the quality of life. He also shows how the teachings of Scripture and the genuine practice of faith can be integral parts of a fulfilling existence. Urban draws on his own lifelong spiritual search -- which has included Protestant churches, the Catholic church, some Eastern philosophies, and human potential psychology -- to produce an ecumenical and nondogmatic examination of the Scriptures, finding in them clear and simple guidance for increasing both purpose and joy in our lives. Five of his principles are do's, as in "Keep a positive outlook on life" and "Bring out the best in other people." The other five are don't's, as in "Don't be seduced by popular culture" and "Don't judge other people." These ten commandments of timeless wisdom will inspire people of all faiths who are searching for more meaning and direction in their lives, no matter where it comes from.
