Book Commission Review of a Proposal by the Chaffey Community College District To Establish an Educational Center in the City of Chino Commission Report 04 12

Download or read book Commission Review of a Proposal by the Chaffey Community College District To Establish an Educational Center in the City of Chino Commission Report 04 12 written by California State Postsecondary Education Commission, Sacramento and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this report, the Commission considers the request by the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges (BOG) and the Chaffey Community College District (CCCD) to establish an Educational Center in the City of Chino. The need for this educational center dates back to 1991 when the BOG adopted the community college system?s Long Range Capital Outlay Plan. Noting robust enrollment growth through 2010, the BOG calls for the establishment of two educational centers to serve the eastern and southwestern portions of the district. By 2000, the district?s available physical capacity significantly diminished as enrollment growth hit record levels. Enrollment demand was especially robust in the growing communities of Fontana and Chino Valley. The Commission concurs with the California Community College Board of Governors that an educational center should be established in Chino. The Commission specifically concludes that: (1) enrollments from the Chino Valley will almost triple over the next 12 years; (2) capacity at the existing outreach center in downtown Chino cannot accommodate the anticipated enrollment demand; and that (3) the proposed educational offerings address the area's educational needs.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The California Postsecondary Education Commission (CPEC) recognizes the importance of educational centers as a cost-effective means for meeting increased student demand. Educational centers are an economical way of serving a region's educational needs because they often involve collaboration and shared facility use with high schools, university campuses, and local businesses. CPEC guidelines require that an off-campus educational facility must serve at least 500 full-time-equivalent students (FTES) annually before it can become a state-approved educational center. Once a center has state-approved status, it becomes eligible to compete for state capital outlay funding. This report reviews the proposal by the Butte-Glenn Community College District to convert its facility in Chico to a fully operational state-approved educational center.

Book Review of a Proposal for a New Community College Center in Vallejo Report 10 15

Book excerpt: This report provides a staff review of a proposal by the Solano Community College District to convert its existing facility in Vallejo to a state-approved off-campus educational center of Solano Community College. Educational centers can be a cost-effective means for meeting educational needs of a region through agreements with local high schools, businesses, and nearby university campuses. Centers support learning productivity because students spend more time engaged near their homes and less time commuting to a main campus. Because the Commission concurred with the decision of the California Community Colleges Board of Governors and the CPEC (California Postsecondary Education Commission) staff recommendation based on ten facilities review criteria, the Vallejo Center will become eligible to compete for state capital outlay funding and to receive base apportionment funding.

This book was released on 2009 with total page 3 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Legislation passed in 2006 established a new system for allocating state revenues to community college districts. The legislation required the California Community Colleges Board of Governors to develop criteria and standards in accordance with Title 5 State regulations. The standards pertain to instruction, teaching, student support services, and physical capacity. In May 2008, the Board of Governors adopted regulations to implement the new funding system. One provision calls for districts to receive General Fund apportionments based in part on the number of its state-approved educational centers. At the Commission's December 2008 meeting, staff presented recommendations for modifying criteria for approval of educational centers to be consistent with the Board of Governors' revised Title 5 regulations. The recommendations pertain to the minimum enrollment threshold, provisional approval, conversion of a grandfathered center to a state-approved center for apportionment funding purposes, and exceptions to the guidelines.
