Book Combustion Generated Air Pollution

Download or read book Combustion Generated Air Pollution written by Ernest Starkman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of notes was assembled as a supplement and guide to a five-day short course presented at the University of California at Berkeley, September 22-26, 1969. The scope of subject matter, while limited to combustion as a source of air pollution, at the same time is intended to give the broadest possible exposure within that area. The spectrum is deliberately wide, ranging from fundamen tals of combustion and combustion reactions through performance of combustion systems and to legal and administrative control. Contributors to this compendium and lecturers in the subject were solicited from academic and public organizations. Most of the authors are from the statewide University of California and the California Department of Public Health. Notable individuals with particular ex pertise, from other institutions, were also invited to contribute. The choice of instructor in each case was based upon a desire to col lect a cross-section of outstanding individuals, each highly qualified technically in his field. These notes reflect the freedom which each author was encouraged to follow in providing supplementary material for his lecture. The staff of Continuing Education in Engineering, Professor Thomas Hazlett and Daphne Stern, deserve commendation for their effective and successful handling of the innumerable details which were encountered. Professors Robert Sawyer and Laurence Caretto are herewith gratefully acknowledged for their support in the seemingly uncountable tasks ne cessary to assemble the entity which is represented.

Book Air Pollution Control Engineering

Download or read book Air Pollution Control Engineering written by Noel de Nevers and published by Waveland Press. This book was released on 2016-12-15 with total page 620 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Engineers in multiple disciplines—environmental, chemical, civil, and mechanical—contribute to our understanding of air pollution control. To that end, Noel de Nevers has incorporated these multiple perspectives into an engaging and accessible overview of the subject. While based on the fundamentals of chemical engineering, the book is accessible to any reader with only one year of college chemistry. In addition to detailed discussions of individual air pollutants and the theory and practice of air pollution control devices, de Nevers devotes seven chapters to topics that influence device selection and design, such as atmospheric models and U.S. air pollution law. The Third Edition’s many in-text examples and end-of-chapter problems provide a more complex treatment of the concepts presented. Significant updates include more discussion on the problem of greenhouse gas emissions and a thorough look at the Volkswagen diesel-emission scandal.

Book Handbook of Air Pollution Prevention and Control

Download or read book Handbook of Air Pollution Prevention and Control written by Nicholas P Cheremisinoff and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2002-08-22 with total page 578 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Handbook of Air Pollution Prevention and Control provides a concise overview of the latest technologies for managing industrial air pollution in petrochemical, oil and gas, and allied industries. Detailed material on equipment selection, sizing, and troubleshooting operations is provided along with practical design methodology. Unique to this volume are discussions and information on energy-efficient technologies and approaches to implementing environmental cost accounting measures.Included in the text are sidebar discussions, questions for thinking and discussing, recommended resources for the reader (including Web sites), and a comprehensive glossary. The Handbook of Air Pollution Prevention and Control also includes free access to US EPA's air dispersion model SCREEN3. Detailed examples on the application of this important software to analyzing air dispersion from industrial processes and point sources are provided in the Handbook, along with approaches to applying this important tool in developing approaches to pollution prevention and in selecting control technologies. By applying SCREEN3, along with the examples given in the Handbook, the user can: evaluate the impact of processes and operations to air quality, and apply the model to assess emergency scenarios to help in planning, to develop environmental impact assessments, to select pollution control technologies, and to develop strategies for pollution prevention. Two companion books by Cheremisinoff are available:Handbook of Water and Wastewater Treatment Technologies, and Handbook of Solid Waste Management and Waste Minimization Technologies. - Uniquely combines prevention and control concepts while covering the practices and technologies that are applied to the prevention of air pollution in the chemicals manufacturing, oil and gas, iron and steel, and pharmaceutical industries, and to the cleaning and control of industrial air emissions. - Provides a bridge for today's environmental manager by focusing on an integrated approach to managing air pollution problems within industrial operations. - Shows you how to calculate financial returns from pollution prevention projects.

Book Indoor Air Pollution Control

Download or read book Indoor Air Pollution Control written by Thad Godish and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-07-23 with total page 447 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an all new book designed to provide you the practical information and data you need for indoor air pollution control! Presented early in the book is theory as support for the applications that follow; including a synthesized review of the significant literature on controlling air pollution. Practical applications-largely from the author's own experience-deal with 1) How to conduct indoor air quality investigations in both residences and public access buildings, 2) Indoor air quality mitigation practice, and 3) Case histories. This book will be very useful to consultants and other professionals who grapple to solve real world problems. And it will make an excellent textbook for new courses in indoor air quality. Indoor Air Pollution Control will be used for control and prevention of contaminated air in homes, apartment buildings, office buildings (large and small), hospitals, auditoriums, and other public buildings.
