Book Combustion Behavior of Solid Fuel Ramjets Volume II Effects of Fuel Properties and Fuel Air Mixing on Combustion Efficiency

Download or read book Combustion Behavior of Solid Fuel Ramjets Volume II Effects of Fuel Properties and Fuel Air Mixing on Combustion Efficiency written by Michael E. Metochianakis and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fundamental SFRJ fuel properties were determined using a DTA and a gas chromatograph for both high and low heating rates. The performance of these fuels was then measured under various operating conditions and test geometries. Fuel properties were found to have some effect on the obtainable combustion efficiency but much larger effects could be induced by the flow conditions (induced mixing near the fuel surface, bypass air, etc.). (Author).

Book Combustion Behavior of Solid Fuel Ramjets Vol 1 Correlation of Reacting and Non reacting Flow Characteristics

Download or read book Combustion Behavior of Solid Fuel Ramjets Vol 1 Correlation of Reacting and Non reacting Flow Characteristics written by Brian A. Binn and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An experimental investigation was conducted to determine the relationship between the cold flow characteristics of velocity, pressure distribution, and turbulence intensity and the reacting flow performance and combustion characteristics of a solid fuel ramjet. The effects of configuration and air flow changes on the above characteristics were examined. Average regression rates and combustion efficiencies were not significantly affected by changes in configuration. These variations in test conditions significantly affected the centerline turbulence intensity but not the near-wall turbulence intensity in cold flow. Near-wall turbulence profiles in cold flow were found to correlate with the fuel regression profiles in reacting flows. The use of bypass resulted in decreases in regression rate and efficiencies for all cases. (Author).

Book A Comparison of Solid Fuel Ramjet Flow Characteristics and Combustion Behavior

Download or read book A Comparison of Solid Fuel Ramjet Flow Characteristics and Combustion Behavior written by Brian Andrew Binn and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 83 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An experimental investigation was conducted to determine if there is a relationship between the cold flow characteristics of velocity, pressure distribution, and turbulence intensity and the reacting flow performance and combustion characteristics of a solid fuel ramjet. The effects of configuration and air flow changes on the above characteristics were examined. Average regression rates and combustion efficiencies were not significantly affected by changes in configuration. These variations in test conditions significantly affected the center-line turbulence intensity but not the near-wall turbulence intensity in cold flow. The use of bypass resulted in decreases in regression rate and efficiencies for all cases. Attainable performance appears to be most strongly related to near-wall turbulence intensity/mixing and to the amount of fuel reaching the aft mixing chamber. (Author).

Book An Investigation of the Combustion Behavior of Solid Fuel Ramjets

Download or read book An Investigation of the Combustion Behavior of Solid Fuel Ramjets written by Clemens James Mady (Jr) and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An experimental and analytical investigation was conducted of the combustion behavior in solid fuel ramjets. The effects of configuration variables on combustion performance were experimentally determined. Air ducting methods were found to affect combustion efficiency through port flow rates, bypass dump momentum and geometry and bypass ratio. Bypass configurations with plexiglas fuel altered the heat transfer mechanisms within the port and decreased combustion efficiency. The analytical model was found to be in qualitative agreement with experimental data. Finite rate kinetics and radiative transfer to the fuel surface will be required in the model to obtain more quantitative accuracy. (Author).

Book Thermoacoustic Combustion Instability Control

Download or read book Thermoacoustic Combustion Instability Control written by Dan Zhao and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2023-02-13 with total page 1145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thermoacoustic Combustion Instability Control: Engineering Applications and Computer Codes provides a unique opportunity for researchers, students and engineers to access recent developments from technical, theoretical and engineering perspectives. The book is a compendium of the most recent advances in theoretical and computational modeling and the thermoacoustic instability phenomena associated with multi-dimensional computing methods and recent developments in signal-processing techniques. These include, but are not restricted to a real-time observer, proper orthogonal decomposition (POD), dynamic mode decomposition, Galerkin expansion, empirical mode decomposition, the Lattice Boltzmann method, and associated numerical and analytical approaches. The fundamental physics of thermoacoustic instability occurs in both macro- and micro-scale combustors. Practical methods for alleviating common problems are presented in the book with an analytical approach to arm readers with the tools they need to apply in their own industrial or research setting. Readers will benefit from practicing the worked examples and the training provided on computer coding for combustion technology to achieve useful results and simulations that advance their knowledge and research. Focuses on applications of theoretical and numerical modes with computer codes relevant to combustion technology Includes the most recent modeling and analytical developments motivated by empirical experimental observations in a highly visual way Provides self-contained chapters that include a comprehensive, introductory section that ensures any readers new to this topic are equipped with required technical terms
