Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Poetry is a very powerful medium. It invites the reader to stay and sit awhile. It is deeply layered, nuanced, and open to interpretation of all kinds. It is lyrical while allowing the reader to bring their own melody. I enjoy the process of contemplation required in writing poetry almost as much as I enjoy reading others' responses, the same is with all of my team. My hope and utmost desire is that this compilation of poetry, lyrics, and images helps even one other wander lusting life traveller—whether you think you're lost, seeking, or somewhere else on your journey. Very specifically, I want to connect with you if you're looking for encouragement via aesthetics of poetry which we all tried as a beginner. If you feel a tugging on your heart to express more about something, but you're not sure what that something may be, or if you're trying to make sense you've carried for a while but feel disconnected from belief, or if you simply enjoy reading poetry and want to try a varied taste in a book, we were writing this with you in mind. From one perfectly imperfect creation to another, may you find whatever it is you're seeking, and in seeking, may you find peace, recreation, pleasure and happiness in this small work of poetry by our Team. This whole project was initiated with a group of seven eager minds, but the whole work would have been incomplete without the motivation of Sri Thaneshwar Malakar ji, a well-known author and a person well-known to encourage the literature in Assam. His initial review and motivation had a very deep impact in this book reaching the hands of the readers, for he gave the initial spark required to complete this Anthology. And taking his words as blessing, we moved forward.

Book Interpreter Sam Carries On

Download or read book Interpreter Sam Carries On written by Donald A. Herron and published by SEG Books. This book was released on 2016-10-15 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Interpreter Sam Carries On (SEG Geophysical Monograph Series No. 20) is a collection of the seventh through the fourteenth years of “Interpreter Sam” columns from The Leading Edge. It “carries on” with the stories of the fictitious Interpreter Sam, the sometimes hero, sometimes victim, and most often innocent bystander in circumstances typical of a seismic interpreter’s career in the oil and gas industry. As in the first Interpreter Sam volume, SEG Geophysical Monograph Series No. 15, each chapter of the book begins with a caricature of Sam (and others) created by the artist David Carman. In the epilogue, Sam presents three verses, based on the works of three well-known poets but adapted to the modern interpretation environment. This book extends the storytelling tradition of its predecessor; paraphrasing the noted paleontologist and historian of nature Stephen Jay Gould, it retells actual events as stories with the intent to interest and to instruct, and as such is appropriate for readers of all persuasions.

Book excerpt: In this beautifully crafted, Rashomon-like novel, Maryse Conde has written a gripping story imbued with all the nuances and traditions of Caribbean culture. Francis Sancher--a handsome outsider, loved by some and reviled by others--is found dead, face down in the mud on a path outside Riviere au Sel, a small village in Guadeloupe. None of the villagers are particularly surprised, since Sancher, a secretive and melancholy man, had often predicted an unnatural death for himself. As the villagers come to pay their respects they each--either in a speech to the mourners, or in an internal monologue--reveal another piece of the mystery behind Sancher's life and death. Like pieces of an elaborate puzzle, their memories interlock to create a rich and intriguing portrait of a man and a community. In the lush and vivid prose for which she has become famous, Conde has constructed a Guadeloupean wake for Francis Sancher. Retaining the full color and vibrance of Conde's homeland, Crossing the Mangrove pays homage to Guadeloupe in both subject and structure.
