This book was released on 2017-10-12 with total page 548 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Collections of the Worcester Society of Antiquity, Vol. 2 Worcester was first settled in the year 1674, and was then known as Quinsigamond. At this time six or seven buildings were erect cd but the breaking out of King Philip's war the succeeding year caused them to be abandoned and they were destroyed by the enemy. In 1684 the place was incorporated under the name of Worcester, and a settlement made which progressed for a number of years. The history preserved of this second settlement is very mger and unsatisfactory it failed however, from the same causes that affected the former attempt. In 1702, hostilities with the In dians having been renewed, the settlers in their isolated situation, faring a general massacre, deserted their homes and the fruits of their labor, and the town once more fell into decay.
