Book Collected Papers on Wave Mechanics

Download or read book Collected Papers on Wave Mechanics written by Erwin Schrödinger and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2003 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The famous equation that bears Erwin Schrödinger's name encapsulates his profound contributions to quantum mechanics using wave mechanics. This third, augmented edition of his papers on the topic contains the six original, famous papers in which Schrödinger created and developed the subject of wave mechanics as published in the original edition. As the author points out, at the time each paper was written the results of the later papers were largely unknown to him. This edition also contains three papers that were written shortly after the original edition was published and four lectures delivered by Schrödinger at the Royal Institution in London in 1928. The papers and lectures in this volume were revised by the author and translated into English, and afford the reader a striking and valuable insight into how wave mechanics developed.

Book Eigenfunctions of the Laplacian on a Riemannian Manifold

Download or read book Eigenfunctions of the Laplacian on a Riemannian Manifold written by Steve Zelditch and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2017-12-12 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Eigenfunctions of the Laplacian of a Riemannian manifold can be described in terms of vibrating membranes as well as quantum energy eigenstates. This book is an introduction to both the local and global analysis of eigenfunctions. The local analysis of eigenfunctions pertains to the behavior of the eigenfunctions on wavelength scale balls. After re-scaling to a unit ball, the eigenfunctions resemble almost-harmonic functions. Global analysis refers to the use of wave equation methods to relate properties of eigenfunctions to properties of the geodesic flow. The emphasis is on the global methods and the use of Fourier integral operator methods to analyze norms and nodal sets of eigenfunctions. A somewhat unusual topic is the analytic continuation of eigenfunctions to Grauert tubes in the real analytic case, and the study of nodal sets in the complex domain. The book, which grew out of lectures given by the author at a CBMS conference in 2011, provides complete proofs of some model results, but more often it gives informal and intuitive explanations of proofs of fairly recent results. It conveys inter-related themes and results and offers an up-to-date comprehensive treatment of this important active area of research.

Book The Amazing World of Quantum Computing

Download or read book The Amazing World of Quantum Computing written by Rajendra K. Bera and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-03-14 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses the application of quantum mechanics to computing. It explains the fundamental concepts of quantum mechanics and then goes on to discuss various elements of mathematics required for quantum computing. Quantum cryptography, waves and Fourier analysis, measuring quantum systems, comparison to classical mechanics, quantum gates, and important algorithms in quantum computing are among the topics covered. The book offers a valuable resource for graduate and senior undergraduate students in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields with an interest in designing quantum algorithms. Readers are expected to have a firm grasp of linear algebra and some familiarity with Fourier analysis.

Book Finite Mathematics as the Foundation of Classical Mathematics and Quantum Theory

Download or read book Finite Mathematics as the Foundation of Classical Mathematics and Quantum Theory written by Felix Lev and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-11-03 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book delves into finite mathematics and its application in physics, particularly quantum theory. It is shown that quantum theory based on finite mathematics is more general than standard quantum theory, whilst finite mathematics is itself more general than standard mathematics. As a consequence, the mathematics describing nature at the most fundamental level involves only a finite number of numbers while the notions of limit, infinite/infinitesimal and continuity are needed only in calculations that describe nature approximately. It is also shown that the concepts of particle and antiparticle are likewise approximate notions, valid only in special situations, and that the electric charge and baryon- and lepton quantum numbers can be only approximately conserved.
