Book Coherent Domain Optical Methods

Download or read book Coherent Domain Optical Methods written by Valery V. Tuchin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-10-15 with total page 963 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For the first time in one set of books, coherent-domain optical methods are discussed in the framework of various applications, which are characterized by a strong light scattering. A few chapters describe basic research containing the updated results on coherent and polarized light non-destructive interactions with a scattering medium, in particular, diffraction, interference, and speckle formation at multiple scattering. These chapters allow for understanding coherent-domain diagnostic techniques presented in later chapters. A large portion of Volume I is dedicated to analysis of various aspects of optical coherence tomography (OCT) - a very new and growing field of coherent optics. Two chapters on laser scanning confocal microscopy give insight to recent extraordinary results on in vivo imaging and compare the possibilities and achievements of confocol, excitation multiphoton, and OCT microscopy. This two volume reference contains descriptions of holography, interferometry and optical heterodyning techniques in their application for diagnostics of turbid materials. The most prospective methods of coherent and polarization optical imaging and spectroscopy, including polarization-sensitive optical coherent tomography, polarization diffusion wave spectroscopy, and elastic and quasi-elastic light scattering spectroscopies and image techniques, are presented.

Book Biomechanics of the Aorta

Download or read book Biomechanics of the Aorta written by T. Christian Gasser and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2024-06-18 with total page 636 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Biomechanics of the Aorta: Modelling for Patient Care is a holistic analysis of the aorta towards its biomechanical description. The book addresses topics such as physiology, clinical imaging, tissue and blood flow modeling, along with knowledge that is needed in diagnostics, aortic rupture prediction, assist surgical planning, and more. It encompasses a wide range of topics from the basic sciences (Vascular biology, Continuum mechanics, Image analysis) to clinical applications, as well as describing and presenting computational studies and experimental benches to mimic, understand and propose the best treatment of aortic pathologies. The book begins with an introduction to the fundamental aspects of the anatomy, biology and physiopathology of the aorta and proceeds to present the main computational fluid dynamic studies and biomechanical and mechanobiological models developed over the last decade. With approaches, methodologies and findings from contributors all over the world, this new volume in the Biomechanics of Living Organs series will increase understanding of aortic function as well as improve the design of medical devices and clinical interventions, including surgical procedures. Represents a comprehensive means for those involved in the aortic research and the related developments in the industry Introduces the most recent imaging technologies to characterize factors, such as aortic geometry, mechanical properties of the aortic tissue, and the local cellular activity in the vessel wall Synthesizes advances in vascular biomechanics, medical imaging and computational finite element fluid and solid models to increase understanding of aorta function

Book Optical Coherence Tomography and Its Non medical Applications

Download or read book Optical Coherence Tomography and Its Non medical Applications written by Michael Wang and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2020-05-27 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is a promising non-invasive non-contact 3D imaging technique that can be used to evaluate and inspect material surfaces, multilayer polymer films, fiber coils, and coatings. OCT can be used for the examination of cultural heritage objects and 3D imaging of microstructures. With subsurface 3D fingerprint imaging capability, OCT could be a valuable tool for enhancing security in biometric applications. OCT can also be used for the evaluation of fastener flushness for improving aerodynamic performance of high-speed aircraft. More and more OCT non-medical applications are emerging. In this book, we present some recent advancements in OCT technology and non-medical applications.
