Book CMMI sm SE SW V1 0 Capability Maturity Model Integrated for Systems Engineering Software Engineering Version 1 0 Continuous Representation

Download or read book CMMI sm SE SW V1 0 Capability Maturity Model Integrated for Systems Engineering Software Engineering Version 1 0 Continuous Representation written by and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 619 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of CMM Integration, and therefore this CMMI model, is to provide guidance for improving an organization's processes and its ability to manage the development, acquisition, and maintenance of products or services. CMM Integration places proven practices into a structure that helps organizations assess their organizational maturity or process area capability, establish priorities for improvement, and implement these improvements. Organizations can further use this CMMI model to help set process improvement objectives and priorities, improve processes, and provide guidance for ensuring stable, capable, and mature processes. This model has a continuous representation. The components of both representations are process areas, specific goals, specific practices, generic goals, generic practices, typical work products, subpractices, notes, discipline amplifications, generic practice elaborations, and references. However, the continuous representation uses six capability levels, capability profiles, target staging, and equivalent staging as organizing principles for the model components. The continuous representation groups process areas by affinity categories and designates capability levels for process improvement within each process area. Capability profiles illustrate process improvement paths in terms of staging of process areas.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CMMI® (Capability Maturity Model® Integration) is an integrated, extensible framework for improving process capability and quality across an organization. It has become a cornerstone in the implementation of continuous improvement for both industry and governments around the world. Rich in both detail and guidance for a wide set of organizational domains, the CMMI Product Suite continues to evolve and expand. Updated for CMMI Version 1.2, this third edition of CMMI® Distilled again provides a concise and readable introduction to the model, as well as straightforward, no-nonsense information on integrated, continuous process improvement. The book now also includes practical advice on how to use CMMI in tandem with other approaches, including Six Sigma and Lean, as well as new and expanded guidance on preparing for, managing, and using appraisals. Written so that readers unfamiliar with model-based process improvement will understand how to get started with CMMI, the book offers insights for those more experienced as well. It can help battle-scarred process improvement veterans, and experienced suppliers and acquirers of both systems and services, perform more effectively. CMMI® Distilled is especially appropriate for executives and managers who need to understand why continuous improvement is valuable, why CMMI is a tool of choice, and how to maximize the return on their efforts and investments. Engineers of all kinds (systems, hardware, software, and quality, as well as acquisition personnel and service providers) will find ideas on how to perform better. The three authors, all involved with CMMI since its inception, bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to this book. They highlight the pitfalls and shortcuts that are all too often learned by costly experience, and they provide a context for understanding why the use of CMMI continues to grow around the world.

Book CMMI for Systems Engineering Software Engineering Version 1 02 CMMI SE SW V1 02

Download or read book CMMI for Systems Engineering Software Engineering Version 1 02 CMMI SE SW V1 02 written by and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 598 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A model is a simplified representation of the world. Capability Maturity Models (CMMs) contain the essential elements of effective processes for one or more disciplines. These elements are based on the concepts developed by Crosby, Deming, Juran, and Humphrey Crosby 79, Juran 88, Deming 86, Humphrey 89. Like other CM Ms, Capability Maturity Model-Integrated (CMMI) models provide guidance to use when developing processes. CMMI models are not processes or process descriptions. The actual processes used in an organization depend on many factors, including application domain(s) and organization structure and size. In particular, the process areas of a CMMI model may not map one-to-one with the processes used in your organization.
