(2) Legal Holidays in Jefferson, St. Charles and St. John the Baptist Parishes. Act 252 of 1912, p. 558, being a special act fixing the legal holidays in the above named parishes, controls as to those parishes. Its provisions are the same as those of Sec. 1114, R. S. (supra), except in the following respects: (a) Mardi Gras is a legal holiday in those parishes as in the Parish of Orleans. (b) Saturdays, from twelve o'clock noon to twelve o'clock midnight, are half holidays in those parishes, as in cities of over ten thousand. (c) When the 1st of January, the 8th of January, the 22nd of February, June 3rd, the Fourth of July, the 1st of November or the 25th of December fall upon a Sunday, the succeeding day is a holiday in those parishes, as in cities of over ten thousand. (3) Completion of Trials on Legal Holidays. Act No. 6, 1904, p. 9. "That whenever empaneling of a jury or the taking of evidence on the trial of any case shall have been begun, but not concluded, at the time at which there shall intervene any legal holiday or legal half holiday, it shall be lawful for the presiding judge, and within his discretion, to order said trial to be proceeded with upon said legal holiday, if not a Sunday or Christmas day, or upon said legal half holiday, and all proceedings thereafter had in the trial of said case shall have the same force and effect as though had on a day not a legal holiday or legal half holiday." (4) It will be noticed that Sec. 1114, R. S., makes some days legal holidays which are not mentioned in Art. 207. While this article has never been amended so as to name all the legal holidays, it is clear_that it should be read as if it included them all.
