The Sermon on the Mount was given to us by Christ Himself as a showcase of what it means to follow Him: Wouldn't this world be a better place if we all aimed for the kind of life and selfless relationships that Jesus urges us to live? Indeed, we sense that this Sermon is from God's lips to our ears. From above, King Jesus still imparts hope, faith, and vision of this kingdom He's promised to bring. We, His people, are still being shaped under His leadership by His Spirit and His Word. May God bless every reader to embrace what He would teach us about how to live here and now as citizens of the kingdom.

Book excerpt: New covenant believers live between "the already" and "not yet," a point in redemptive history between the partial and complete fulfillment of God's promises. This means they are exiles and pilgrims in the divinely ordained overlap of the ages. As Rev. Jason J. Stellman argues in his book Dual Citizens: Worship and Life Between the Already and the Not Yet, this biblical motif shapes the identity of Christians at every turn and affects their every activity in both the sacred and secular realms. Stellman explores the Christian pilgrimage with deep biblical insight, humor, and relevance to our contemporary context, revealing how Christians are to think of themselves and their role this side of heaven.

Book Citizens of God s Kingdom

Download or read book Citizens of God s Kingdom written by Ken Edgar and published by . This book was released on 2021-09-26 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a study into the central theme of the Bible on achieving citizenship in the Kingdom of God. As spiritual archaeologists, we explore and examine what provision has been made for our growth in order that we may be just like Jesus. What principles and doctrines are given to us and how to interpret them. The Bible is a rich source of material that is easily distorted or diverted to prove our own opinions. But what is the Word that comes with a power that cannot be shaken or moved? Jesus never came to set up a new religion or even envisaged the ones we currently find on earth. Jesus never ordained ministers or Bishops or any other office such as is found only in churches. Jesus was very opposed to religious rulers but freely conducted Himself as only a regal King could. We only need to look at the manner in which He spoke to sickness, disease and bondage. There was no discussions just commands issued as a King would. Sickness, disease and bondage are not resident in the Kingdom of Heaven and the King of Kings was not going to allow them to exist in any part of His Kingdom. Jesus came and corrected the image people had of the Father. Up until the time Jesus came and ministered, people had no clue as to the nature and character of the Father. Without a clear vision it is easy to see why people got caught up in idol worship. This book opens the windows and pulls back the curtains to let the light in that we can see our path to citizenship clearer.

Book Practicing the King s Economy

Download or read book Practicing the King s Economy written by Michael Rhodes and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2018-04-17 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The church in the West is rediscovering the fact that God cares deeply for the poor. More and more, churches and individual Christians are looking for ways to practice economic discipleship, but it's hard to make progress when we are blind to our own entanglement in our culture's idolatrous economic beliefs and practices. Practicing the King's Economy cuts through much confusion and invites Christians to take their place within the biblical story of the "King Jesus Economy." Through eye-opening true stories of economic discipleship in action, and with a solid exploration of six key biblical themes, the authors offer practical ways for God's people to earn, invest, spend, compensate, save, share, and give in ways that embody God's love and provision for the world. Foreword by Christopher J. H. Wright.

Book excerpt: A profound exploration of how to hold on to hope when our unchanging faith collides with a changing culture, from two respected Christian storytellers and thought leaders. “Offers neither spin control nor image maintenance for the evangelical tribe, but genuine hope.”—Russell Moore, president of ERLC As the pressures of health warnings, economic turmoil, and partisan politics continue to rise, the influence of gospel-focused Christians seems to be waning. In Gospelbound, Collin Hansen and Sarah Eekhoff Zylstra counter these growing fears with a robust message of resolute hope for anyone hungry for good news.
