Los ejercicios propuestos son de varios tipos y de nivel desigual. Su dificultad se anuncia mediante la cantidad de estrellas que preceden al número del diagrama, según el baremo siguiente: -Una estrella= fácil -Dos estrellas= media -Tres estrellas= difícil. Ciertas posiciones están precedidas de un texto que presenta sus características principales, encaminándole hacia la solución, pero cuanto más difícil es el ejercicio, menor es la ayuda, pues cuanto más se avanza más hay que aproximarse a las condiciones de una partida real. Al abordar un diagrama, lo mejor es contar el material para hacerse una idea de la situación y del objetivo de cada bando; si la posición está igualada, la captura de un peón bastará para conseguir la victoria. Con una pieza menos, habrá que intentar hacer jaque mate... De la misma forma, si algún bando no tiene ninguna debilidad evidente, habrá que intentar una combinación de habilidad; mientras que si los dos bandos están en pleno ataque, la sucesión más plausible consistirá sin duda en una combinación violenta. Pase revista a todas las posibilidades tácticas de la posición, aunque todavía no estén establecidas. Centre su atención en la zona de combate y tome nota de las amenazas que planean no sólo sobre las piezas situadas en esta zona, sino también sobre las piezas que protegen a estas últimas. Para aproximarse a las condiciones normales del juego, reproduzca los ejercicios en un tablero y resuélvalos en un tiempo limitado, sin mover las piezas. Los jugadores habituados pueden operar a partir del diagrama. El tiempo: una solución correcta proporciona casi tantos puntos cuando se da en el tiempo asignado como tras haber sobrepasado el límite, con el fin de favorecer a los que se toman tiempo para reflexionar. Por otra parte, a menudo las respuestas incorrectas están sancionadas con puntos negativos, cuando conducen a la pérdida de la partida en lugar de a la victoria. Más vale ganar puntos dando la respuesta correcta aunque sea pasándose del tiempo asignado que perderlos dando una respuesta fantasiosa en el tiempo asignado.

Spanish is the main, usually the sole official language of twenty-one countries,} and it is set fair to overtake English by the year 2000 in numbers 2 of native speakers. This vast geographical and political diversity ensures that Spanish is a good deal less unified than French, German or even English, the latter more or less internationally standardized according to either American or British norms. Until the 1960s, the criteria of internationally correct Spanish were dictated by the Real Academia Espanola, but the prestige of this institution has now sunk so low that its most solemn decrees are hardly taken seriously - witness the fate of the spelling reforms listed in the Nuevas normas de prosodia y ortograjia, which were supposed to come into force in all Spanish-speaking countries in 1959 and, nearly forty years later, are still selectively ignored by publishers and literate persons everywhere. The fact is that in Spanish 'correctness' is nowadays decided, as it is in all living languages, by the consensus of native speakers; but consensus about linguistic usage is obviously difficult to achieve between more than twenty independent, widely scattered and sometimes mutually hostile countries. Peninsular Spanish is itself in flux.

Figueroa-Vásquez juxtaposes Afro-Latinx and Afro-Hispanic diasporic artists, analyzing work by Nelly Rosario, Juan Tomás Ávila Laurel, Trifonia Melibea Obono, Donato Ndongo, Junot Díaz, Aracelis Girmay, Loida Maritza Pérez, Ernesto Quiñonez, Christina Olivares, Joaquín Mbomio Bacheng, Ibeyi, Daniel José Older, and María Magdalena Campos-Pons. Figueroa-Vásquez’s study reveals the thematic, conceptual, and liberatory tools these artists offer when read in relation to one another. Decolonizing Diasporas examines how themes of intimacy, witnessing, dispossession, reparations, and futurities are remapped in these works by tracing interlocking structures of oppression, including public and intimate forms of domination, sexual and structural violence, sociopolitical and racial exclusion, and the haunting remnants of colonial intervention. Figueroa-Vásquez contends that these diasporic literatures reveal violence but also forms of resistance and the radical potential of Afro-futurities. This study centers the cultural productions of peoples of African descent as Afro-diasporic imaginaries that subvert coloniality and offer new ways to approach questions of home, location, belonging, and justice.
