Book The Scriptural Relation of Children to the Church of Christ Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Scriptural Relation of Children to the Church of Christ Classic Reprint written by William McDonagh and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-05-21 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Scriptural Relation of Children to the Church of Christ Thou art my God from before the birth. If by breach of law through the first Adam sin passed over on the children of our race, by so much more does grace pass over on them by the second Adam to sai vation and justification of life. And as sin passed over on our children unconditionally and without free choice on their part, so does the merit of the atone ment them unconditionally to salvation through the second Adam, the Lord Jesus Christ. The very existence of childhood, and, by consequence, of the race, is due to the atonement of Jesus Christ. It isonly necessary, without tracing the connection, to assert that, as the Apostle most distinctly amrms, sin became a curse to the whole of mankind by the transgression of the first man of our race. But Paul, also, asserts that the saving benefits of the atonement of Jesus Christ are as broad as the ruin wrought. If original sinfulness of nature affects the infants of our race, much more the saving benefits of salvation pass over to the infants of the race. See Romans 5: 12-21 for the argument of the Apostle on this question. Such also are the resurrection privi leges broadly stated by Paul to belong to humanity, and by consequence to the infants of our race who may have passed away out of this life in the early morning of their existence here. See 1 Cor. 15: 45. No other application of the Apostle 's argument seems to us at all admissible. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book The Training of Children in the Christian Family Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Training of Children in the Christian Family Classic Reprint written by Luther Allan Weigle and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-26 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Training of Children in the Christian Family This is a book for parents which deals with princi ples rather than with problems or cases. It aims to help parents to think for themselves; and does not undertake to present ready-made formulas for the training of children or prescriptions for use in various emergencies. It is not mere theory, how ever; most of its materials lie within the author's experience as parent and as teacher. The outline of the book is that of an introductory course for the training of parents, prepared and released by the International Sunday School Lesson Committee under the title of Hints on Child Training, as one of its elective courses for adult classes in the Sunday school. The editors of The Church School requested me to prepare a series of articles, following this outline, which might be used as a basis for study and discussion in parents' classes. In that form, the chapters of this book appeared in that publication, and have been used as a course of study by classes of parents in Sunday schools of various denominations, and as the basis for a year's programs and discussions by mothers' clubs and parent-teacher associations. It is hoped that the book may find a yet wider use by such classes and groups, as well as commend itself to the reading of individual fathers and mothers. My thanks are due to the editors of The Church School. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Catholic Teaching for Children Classic Reprint

Download or read book Catholic Teaching for Children Classic Reprint written by Winifride Wray and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-13 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Catholic Teaching for Children The idea of this book is to combine a course of Christian Doctrine and one of Scripture History, especially that of the New Testament, and to put the whole into language such as children, say from seven to fifteen, may easily understand for themselves without the help of a teacher. Such a book may also be a help to teachers in giving to children simple explanations of the Catechism and of Scripture. Experience has shown that careful explanation, and exceedingly simple explanation, of the words of the Catechism is absolutely necessary, in order that young children may properly understand them, and may obtain through them any real and lasting grasp of the sublime mysteries of the Faith which they teach. Hence too frequently it unfortunately happens that, for want of such explanation, our children leave school with very imperfect ideas of doctrine, and thus, forgetting the sense, forget also, quickly and entirely, those words of the Catechism which they had so diligently studied. Thus, though they have seemed to do well at school, they grow up very ignorant of their religion. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book The Religious Training of Children in the Family the School and the Church Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Religious Training of Children in the Family the School and the Church Classic Reprint written by Catharine Esther Beecher and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-19 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Religious Training of Children in the Family, the School, and the Church The more the human mind is accustomed to rea son and discrimination, the more it is perceived that the Creator of all things designed not only the good of his creatures, but their best good. The common expression that God orders all things for the best conveys the only clear idea we can have of his perfect benevolence. When it is said that the Judge of the whole earth will do right, the only intelligible meaning is that God will do that which is for the best good of his crea tures. To do right, and to do that which is for the best, are expressions which, as the people use and understand them, signify the same thing when ap plied to God, and equally so when applied to man. By the light of nature, without any revelation from God, men are led to the conviction that it is His will that all his creatures should do right; that is, that they do what is best for all concerned. And the various revelations from God, in different ages, now collected in the Bible, all teach the same great doctrine. In the widest use of the term, a man is religious just so far as his feelings and conduct are con formed to the will or laws of his Creator, as made known either by reason and experience or by rev elation. A child is trained to be religious, in this use of the term, just so far as he is educated to obey the laws of God in regard to self, to others, and to his Maker. Book Correpsondences for Children of the New Church Classic Reprint

This book was released on 2018-01-30 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Correpsondences for Children of the New Church The following pages were first read to the Mount Vernon New Church Sabbath School, and are pub lished in the hope that they may be generally useful. If they are adapted to the states of children, they will be read by them with more or less delight; and I would recommend that the attention be not called to the questions, till the first pleasures of recep tion are passing away, and the book is beginning to be an old one. The questions may then be useful in fixing the instruction which has been received in the memory. Should these Correspondences be found to be adapted to the states of children and the wants of the Church, I hope to be able to add some on other subjects. S. R. Book The Child and the Church Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Child and the Church Classic Reprint written by Henry Harness Fout and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-09 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Child and the Church This little volume is the outgrowth of two addresses - one delivered before the Council of Evangelical Denominations at Toronto, Ontario, January 24, 1912; the other before the General Conference of the United Brethren Church at Decatur, Illinois, May 10, 1913. In response to repeated requests the work of preparing these chapters was undertaken. The task has been one of genuine pleasure. The purpose of the book is to emphasize the child's rights in the Father's family as set forth in the nine great utterances of the Master concerning childhood. These constitute the magna charta of the religious rights and privileges of the child. To exalt the child is to return to Christ, and to safeguard its unfolding life is to renew his teaching and endeavor. If the teachers will use these papers as suggestions, and give their own minds a chance to grow, they will soon realize the value of the system which has placed the Book of Common Prayer in the Sunday-school of the Church, and permitted the Church to teach her own children. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Chosen People: A Compendium of Sacred and Church History for School-Children The questions at the end are chiefly intended to direct the mind of the learner to the point of each lesson. It will be perceived that the answers must be prepared as well from the Bible as from the book; and in most cases the teacher will in use have to multiply, and perhaps to simplify them. One of their especial objects has been to show the ever brightening stream of prophecy, and after wards, its accomplishment alike with regard to heathen nations, to the history of the Jews, of the Church, and, above all, to the Life of our Blessed Lord; and it is hoped that those who examine into them, cannot fail to be struck With the full and per feet accordance of the beginning with the end and if they learn no other lesson, will have it impressed on them how the counsel of the Lord endureth for ever. Two tables have been added for the convenience of the scholar, one giving the contemporary kings and prophets, the other the course of historical chapters, with, as far as possible, the prophetical, didactic, or poetical books, of the same date ranged in parallel lines. It is hoped that these may be found useful in arranging lessons for upper classes or pupil teachers. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Each teacher can have her lesson so well prepared that there will be no necessity to refer to any book while she is conducting her class. She Will be able to get much better results from the child ren if she will lay aside the book, and give her lesson from memory. Another thing: Let the teacher try to be interested in the lesson. If she is not, surely no interest can be expected from the children. Enthusiasm is infectious, and when the teacher enjoys giving a lesson, the children find equal enjoyment in learning it. Book Bible and Church History Stories

Download or read book Bible and Church History Stories written by Deseret Sunday School Union and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-11-22 with total page 476 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Bible and Church History Stories: For the Primary Department of the Sunday School We are sending this work, Bible and Church History Stories, to the teachers of the Primary Department as their official guide for our two years' course of study. In doing so we earnestly hope and sincerely pray that the stories will assist the teachers in presenting to the chil dren under their care lessons that will so impress the lit tle folks as to broaden and strengthen their characters, increase their faith, and make Latter-day Saints of them. Never fail to read and prayerfully study the Bible text itself, that you may be able to live the experience covered by the story, recognize the value of the truth it portrays, make the 'message your own, and from the abundance of your love for the truth, for our Heavenly Father, and for the children, give it to the little ones in such a way as to lead them to know, to fee-l, and to live the truth. Remember always that the story is but a means and not an end - a means to reach and enrich their souls - not merely their intellects. Tell it to them in your own way - the way best calculated to appeal to the hearts of the children of your class. Remember, however, that there are certain fundamentals that make for good story telling. First there must be an interesting Point of Contact Each lesson is provided, with one. You may use it or think out one that will go better. Lastly a good appli cation of the story to the child's life should always be made. Likewise is each lesson provided with an applica tion. The teacher is at liberty to improve on it. Possibly the application can better be fitted to local situations. The Text only is mandatory. However, we expect consistency. If you change the lesson plan at.all, make it consistent throughout. May the Father give you to feel that you have painted upon the living canvas of the soul the lessons of God and truth and immortality that shall resist the decaying hand of time and pass on to eternity. Though simply told, we indulge the hope that these stories will find a welcome in the homes of the p'eople for fireside reading.
