Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This 25-minute Christmas Nativity pageant tells the story of Jesus Christ from creation to present day. The birth of Christ is seen as an event with a much wider scope than an incident that occurred long ago in Bethlehem. This drama is unique in highlighting Jesus' birth as part of the greater picture of God's activity throughout history: in creation, in the words of the prophets, in the cross, in the resurrection, and in our world today. The Word Became Flesh provides drama that is biblically sound, educational, and thought-provoking. Shirley M. Wickland is an instructor in computer-aided design and materials science for the Trade and Technical Department of Moraine Park Technical College, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. She is an honors graduate from Milwaukee School of Engineering with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Book Christian Bible Drama Series Christmas Edition

Download or read book Christian Bible Drama Series Christmas Edition written by Rev. Dr. Errol E. Leslie and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-11-15 with total page 163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the gospel of John, the writer ends the story by stating the purpose of writing the Gospel. This purpose is recorded in verses 30 and 31 of chapter 20. Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. Based on this ending, it stands to reason that for even the other Bible stories which are included in scripture, many details have been left out because the respective writers can say so much and no more. Have you ever wondered what details might have been left out of the Christmas narrative as we know them? It is that kind of curiosity which sparked the imaginative thoughts that brought these two Christmas musicals together. The characters were normal human beings with emotions. If you think of it, Joseph would have been jealous and angry when he thought that Mary was unfaithful to him. That kind of emotion might have led to a verbal showdown between the two until the angel appeared to Joseph directly. In turn, Mary must have been pretty distraught that Joseph kept accusing her wrongly and that he continued to question her integrity. Why was he going to break off the engagement? Did he not trust and have confidence in the innocent virgin? Both Mary and Joseph would have had parents too, so how did they come into the picture? What were their immediate thoughts when news of the miracle pregnancy unfolded? There might have been uncertainty and confusion, even among the people of God. One may even assume that there may have been gossips in that society who, like some persons in this day and age, just enjoyed embellishing stories which sounded juicy. At the other end of the spectrum, one wonders what the atmosphere may have been like in the palace of Herod. Was it all anger and jealousy which prevailed, or did the raw human emotions of nervousness and anxiety come to the fore? A Dream Come True and Believe Me, I Believe depicts the Christmas narrative fully as described in the Bible. However, some of these thoughts and questions come out very clearly during the plot. In a combination of poetry and drama, music and dance, the story with the added imaginative scenes unfolds with all these elements interwoven into one continuous narrative. The overall Christian message comes out clearly and very strongly toward the end of each musical, and while the plots may differ, they both carry the underlying theme of evangelism as persons are encouraged to believe in this Jesus and give their lives to Him.

Book They Worshiped Him

  • Release : 2001
  • ISBN : 0788018469
  • Pages : 23 pages

Download or read book They Worshiped Him written by Gail K. Keffer and published by CSS Publishing. This book was released on 2001 with total page 23 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In today's "hurry-up" world, it seems we rarely take the time to think of other people and "walk a mile in the other man's shoes." If we did, what would we see? They Worshiped Him revisits the nativity story from the perspective of the people who were actually there. In this dramatic retelling, we glimpse the innermost thoughts and feelings of some of the very common people whose lives were forever changed by a most extraordinary event. What did the shepherds feel? What did others think of them? Were they perceived as "eccentric"? And what about the wise men who followed the star? Did they have an entire entourage, or did people treat them like three dottering old men? And what about Mary and Joseph; how did this unusual pregnancy affect them? They Worshiped Him answers many of these questions while reminding us of the biblical characters' humanity. The singing of favorite seasonal carols is woven into the drama, encouraging audience participation. And it's an adaptable work that can be staged as elaborately or simply as you wish. While there are speaking parts for 12 angels, 5 animals, 6 shepherds, 3 magi, the innkeeper, Mary, Joseph, and a narrator, roles can easily be combined for use with any size congregation. Staging instructions are included. Far too many plays being marketed to churches today are not well written, place unreasonable requirements on the space and talent available in the average local church, and contain biblically inaccurate statements and characterizations. Gail Keffer's play They Worshiped Him doesn't present any of those problems. It is written in a flexible manner that makes it easy to adapt to a worship service, dinner theater, or a feature-length play for an annual Christmas production. It also does a magnificent job of presenting a biblically accurate version of the nativity story that can be heard, understood, and remembered by all of God's children.... We used this play two years ago, and people are still talking about it. One comment I heard was that the play "made Mary seem like a real person and not a stained-glass Madonna who's out of touch with the realities people like us face." Kari Turner McClellan Senior Pastor, First Presbyterian Church Levittown, Pennsylvania Gail K. Keffer is a graduate of Slippery Rock University (B.S. and M.Ed.). An active member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church in New Castle, Pennsylvania, Keffer is a former schoolteacher who has run a needlework design business and is currently the proprietor of The Amish Peddler, a business specializing in the sale of fine Amish-made furniture.

Book Oh No Not Another Christmas Play

Download or read book Oh No Not Another Christmas Play written by Becky Reilly and published by CSS Publishing. This book was released on 1997-08 with total page 21 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This engaging work takes a humorous look at a group of children (and their adult directors) preparing a Christmas play. From tryouts through the performance they experience Jesus in new and genuine ways. Young people will relate to the characters portrayed here, such as a star with a stage mother, an enthusiastic first-time director, a jaded preacher's kid, and a lonely youngster who discovers the gospel of Christ and the real meaning of Christmas for the first time. The most appealing features of this entertaining piece are its flexibility and practicality. The unique format allows several opportunities for children to share their individual talents (singing, playing piano or instruments, etc.) as they audition for the pageant. The material is easy to learn, and you can choose well-known Christmas carols for the choir to sing. Requiring few costumes and simple sets, this play allows you to involve as few or as many as you wish. Around the core cast of six children and four adults (who could be portrayed by older youth) are a choir (including all participants) and preschool children cast as animals. This inspirational resource can be adapted for presentation by churches of any size, and can be used as a children's production or a youth production.
