Book Christ Walk Kids

Download or read book Christ Walk Kids written by Anna Fitch Courie and published by Church Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2016-09-24 with total page 113 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Developed as a companion to Christ Walk: A 40 Day Spiritual Fitness Program, Christ Walk Kids is an exciting 40-day journey for youth (ages 11 and up) to explore mind, body, and spiritual health. This book helps kids set physical goals by committing to walk different routes based on routes in the Bible. Each chapter explores a topic that everyone thinks about, but not everyone knows how to address. Anna Courie opens up a discussion with youth about health topics they think and talk about amongst themselves, but puts the dialogue in the perspective of spiritual development. Key to the success of this outline is that each day there are topics for youth and parents and/or youth leaders to use as they explore health in a safe environment. Youth are encouraged to participate fully in the Christ Walk program by physical challenges (walking, running, or biking “biblical” routes); mental challenges (deep discussion and thoughtfulness of youth health risks); and spiritual challenges (biblical references and spiritually grounded self-development). Youth and parents are urged to participate together in the Christ Walk program so that the church can address the health of the entire family holistically: mind, body, and spirit.

Download or read book The Walk of the Cross written by Robert Makrush and published by Elm Hill. This book was released on 2020-01-14 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The “Walk of the Cross” is a Lenten study designed to help Christians search their hearts and souls as well as rededicate themselves to be faithful Disciples of Christ. It is a daily devotional which examines fundamental Biblical beliefs in context with several scriptures each day. Daily readings are followed by questions for reflection and journaling. Jesus used this method of rabbinic teaching when he asked questions of His disciples such as “Who do you say (believe) I am?”, “Why do you call me good?”, or “To what shall I compare the Kingdom of God?”. Journaling, scripture reading, and Spirit-led prayers form the foundation of this personal study as we consider what we really believe concerning issues such as God’s calling, grace, salvation, sanctification, and regeneration. The process allows the Holy Spirit to confront false beliefs as well as alleviate areas of doubt in our faith. As for those that may be asking what difference it makes how one believes, professionals have long known that our beliefs, especially those concerning morals, ethics, and religion control how we think, feel and behave. Our beliefs do this by coming together to form attitudes and prejudices concerning who we are and the world around us. Because our belief systems work with a high degree of automation, they can be easily influenced and even corrupted by the culture of the world. Therefore, we should always actively consider what and how we believe under the guidance of the Spirit. Christians have traditionally used the forty days prior to Easter, known as Lent, as a time to rededicate ourselves to the imitation of Christ. Some of us abstain from pleasurable things such as chocolate or TV in an attempt to purify ourselves from worldly desires. Others prefer to add some additional religious aspect to our lives like a Lenten devotional, additional prayer time, or some worthy church social function. Whether we abstain or add, there is a conscious effort to revive our Christian discipleship by identifying with Christ’s teaching and journey of passion for our salvation. Doing these activities in small groups makes this also a time to renew fellowship within church.

Book excerpt: THE WALK is a book written to those who have an expressed desire to follow Christ as his disciple. It assumes no prior understanding of what that means, nor does it assume that the person has actually come to a point of professing faith. It uses as a starting point a Roman pagan who is newly converted and wondering, what next? but also regularly addresses those who have grown up Christian and may take for granted the realities that would be new to a recent convert.
