Download or read book Suffering and the Mass The Great Exchange Catholic for a Reason III written by Jeff Cavins and published by Emmaus Road Publishing. This book was released on 2006-03-01 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jeff Cavins gives an answer to the perennial human question: why does a good God allow suffering? Through the lens of the Mass, and the suffering and sacrifice it re-presents, he shows how the suffering that we inherited through original sin can find meaning in the suffering of Christ. Suffering entered the world through Adam, but Christ came to give it meaning and the capacity to bear fruit. Through the greatest suffering ever endured – the Crucifixion – came the greatest gift: salvation to the world. So also, through our suffering – united to His – will come much good for us and for the whole world.

Download or read book The Great Exchange Foreword by Sinclair Ferguson written by Jerry Bridges and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2007-09-07 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Believers often take for granted the great act of salvation provided to us by the work of Jesus Christ. Beginning with the Old Testament sacrifices and the prophecies that foreshadowed Christ, authors Jerry Bridges and Bob Bevington guide believers through the biblical overview of Christ's atonement. The Great Exchange helps believers see how the Old Testament practices tie in with the New Testament discussion of Christ's great work of salvation. As believers work through these principles, they will begin to recognize that even though we deserve condemnation and punishment from a holy God, he has given us the opportunity to experience his great riches through his Son, Jesus Christ. The clear gospel message presented throughout the entire book offers a great appreciation of Christ for believers and an opportunity for salvation for unbelievers.

Book Buddhist Christian Dialogue as Theological Exchange

Download or read book Buddhist Christian Dialogue as Theological Exchange written by Ernest M. Valea and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2015-04-14 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended to encourage the use of comparative theology in contemporary Buddhist-Christian dialogue as a new approach that would truly respect each religious tradition's uniqueness and make dialogue beneficial for all participants interested in a real theological exchange. As a result of the impasse reached by the current theologies of religions (exclusivism, inclusivism, and pluralism) in formulating a constructive approach in dialogue, this volume assesses the thought of the founding fathers of an academic Buddhist-Christian dialogue in search of clues that would encourage a comparativist approach. These founding fathers are considered to be three important representatives of the Kyoto School--Kitaro Nishida, Keiji Nishitani, and Masao Abe--and John Cobb, an American process theologian. The guiding line for assessing their views of dialogue is the concept of human perfection, as it is expressed by the original traditions in Mahayana Buddhism and Orthodox Christianity. Following Abe's methodology in dialogue, an Orthodox contribution to comparative theology proposes a reciprocal enrichment of traditions, not by syncretistic means, but by providing a better understanding and even correction of one's own tradition when considering it in the light of the other, while using internal resources for making the necessary corrections.

Book Revelation to Transformation

Download or read book Revelation to Transformation written by Paul White and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2011-06-08 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most of us have become accustomed to the constant preaching and teaching of guilt and condemnation. This slowly but surely pulls our eyes off of the loveliness of the finished work and onto the unfinished areas of our lives. We know that we are flawed; we don't need someone screaming at us to figure that out. Our problem is not the absence of knowledge that we need help. Rather, it is the utter inability to help ourselves. Calvary was God's intervention in all of our issues. By relieving us of the punishment of sin, He is freeing us from the weight of guilt and the fear of death. The author of Hebrews said that when Jesus died, He did so to "deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage" (Hebrews 2:15). Jesus has delivered us from fear of eternal punishment by being punished in our place!

Book Effectual Prayer Nourished in the Heart by Christ

Download or read book Effectual Prayer Nourished in the Heart by Christ written by Rick D. Bawcom and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2023-10-18 with total page 449 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The way you think of prayer will influence the way you approach praying. If perceived as mere duty and obligation, there will be no relational joy experienced. However, if prayer is participation in a vital connection, an essential lifeline, between your soul and your God through Jesus Christ, prayer moves into a different light, a new perspective, a living relationship. Prayer presents itself as God’s gift and the only avenue to enjoy communion with the Godhead: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Think of it: actual connection and companionship between you and the Almighty! Understanding this relationship, purchased by Christ, is the purpose of the book you hold in your hands. The Lord Jesus found great delight in the presence of his Father. The bond of eternal love, satisfaction, and enriching fulfillment clearly displayed itself in the atmosphere of his prayers. If you heard him, you would want him to teach you to pray. God the Father knew this about you. The disciples witnessed Christ praying, and it compelled them to ask, “Lord, teach us to pray.” This little volume expounds his answer. The nurturing influence of Christ through the indwelling Holy Spirit gives life to genuine prayer in the child of God. Prayer is not overcoming God’s reluctance to bless us. Rather, it is laying hold of his great willingness to do so. Come and enter the heavenly atmosphere of this reality. Developing an effectual prayer life is a process of growth in the believer’s relationship with God. It is an invitation to be a colaborer with God in Christian maturity. It is a lifelong pursuit. This book expounds on some of the essential ways Christ nourishes the soul in effectual prayer.
