Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Fertilizer Manual was prepared by the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) as a joint project with the United Nations Industrial Development Organi zation (UNIDO). It is designed to replace the UN Fertilizer Manual published in 1967 and intended to be a reference source on fertilizer production technology and economics and fertilizer industry planning for developing countries. The aim of the new manual is to describe in clear, simple language all major fertilizer processes, their requirements, advan tages and disadvantages and to show illustrative examples of economic evaluations. The manual is organized in five parts. Part I deals with the history of fertilizers, world outlook, the role of fertilizers in agriculture, and raw materials and includes a glossary of fertilizer-related terms. Part II covers the production and transportation of ammonia and all important nitrogen fertilizers-liquids and solids. Part III deals with the characteristics of phosphate rock, production of sulfuric and phosphoric acid, and all important phosphate fertilizers, including nitrophosphates and ammonium phosphates. Part IV deals with potash fertilizers-ore mining and refining and chemical manufac ture; compound fertilizers; secondary and micronutrients; controlled-release fertilizers; and physical properties of fertilizers. Part V includes chapters on planning a fertilizer industry, pollution control, the economics of production of major fertilizer products anJ intermediates, and problems facing the world fertilizer industry.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Industrial Chemistry is a branch of chemistry in modern science. In industrial chemistry in modern science, we study about compounds or elements, their properties, and applications; which are used in industries. Since the time of Industrial Revolution, human intellect throughout the civilized world has been driving this Chemical Revolution. The book Industrial Chemistry is an excellent source of technological and economic information on the most important precursors and intermediates used in the chemical industry. It should be in the hand of every higher-graduate student, especially if chemical technology is not part of the study, like in many college universities. This book on industrial chemistry provides an overview of the new trends and hot topics by describing the challenge of designing industrial chemical processes that are up-to-date, sustainable, and economically feasible. The text in this book is throughout supplemented with diagrams and tables. The treatment of all topics is in a cogent, lucid style aimed at enabling the reader to grasp the information quickly and easily. This useful book is specifically intended for practicing chemical engineers, industrial chemists and research students.

Book Review and Evaluation of Alternative Technologies for Demilitarization of Assembled Chemical Weapons

Download or read book Review and Evaluation of Alternative Technologies for Demilitarization of Assembled Chemical Weapons written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 1999-12-24 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report examines seven disposal technologies being considered by the U.S. government as alternative methods to the process of incineration for destroying mortars, rockets, land mines, and other weapons that contain chemical warfare agents, such as mustard gas. These weapons are considered especially dangerous because they contain both chemical warfare agent and explosive materials in an assembled package that must be disassembled for destruction. The study identifies the strengths and weaknesses and advantages and disadvantages of each technology and assesses their potential for full-scale implementation.
