Book Dynamic Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy

Download or read book Dynamic Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy written by Lloyd Jackman and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 677 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dynamic Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy provides an overview of the state of knowledge in dynamic nuclear magnetic resonance (DNMR) spectroscopy. The early chapters describe the theoretical basis and practical techniques which have or will be used for extracting kinetic data from DNMR spectra. The subsequent chapters provide reviews of the many areas in which DNMR spectroscopy has been applied. Key topics covered include nuclear exchange processes; band-shape analysis; application of nonselective pulsed NMR experiments: diffusion and chemical exchange; spin-spin relaxation time determination; rotation about single and double bonds in organic molecules; and dynamic molecular processes in inorganic and organometallic compounds. Also discussed are studies on stereochemical nonrigidity in organometallic and metal carbonyl compounds; fluxional allyl complexes; carbonium ion rearrangements; and proton transfer processes. It is hoped that this volume will provide a literature guide, source book, and progress report which will be helpful to all those who will continue or will begin work in this field.

Download or read book High Pressure NMR written by Jiri Jonas and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, there has been a major expansion of high pressure research providing unique information about systems of interest to a wide range of scientific disciplines. Since nuclear magnetic resonance has been applied to a wide spec trum of problems in chemistry, physics and biochemistry, it is not surprising to find that high pressure NMR techniques have also had many applications in these fields of science. Clearly, the high information content of NMR experiments combined with high pressure provides a powerful tool in modern chem istry. It is the aim of this monograph, in the series on NMR Basic Principles and Progress, to illustrate the wide range of prob lems which can be successfully studied by high pressure NMR. Indeed, the various contributions in this volume discuss studies of interest to physics, chemical physics, biochemistry, and chemical reaction kinetics. In many different ways, this monograph demonstrates the power of modern experimental and theoretical techniques to investigate very complex systems. The first contribution, by D. Brinkman, deals with NMR and NQR studies of superionic conductors and high-Tc supercon ductors at high pressure. Pressure effects on phase transitions, detection of new phases, and pressure effects on diffusion and spin-lattice relaxation, represent a few of the topics discussed in this contribution of particular interest to solid state physics.

Book Progress in Reaction Kinetics

Download or read book Progress in Reaction Kinetics written by K. R. Jennings and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-03 with total page 391 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Progress in Reaction Kinetics, Volume 9 summarizes recent advances that have been made with regards to reaction kinetics. Kinetic applications of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy are described, and tunneling reactions of solvated electrons in liquids and glasses are discussed. The reactions of free radicals generated by organic compounds are also considered. This volume consists of three chapters and begins with a discussion of basic NMR theory, including the NMR phenomenon and nuclear spin relaxation processes. Special attention is paid to the dynamic characteristics of chemical exchange reactions which occur in a system at equilibrium, along with techniques for determining chemical exchange parameters from time domain spectra and time dependent frequency domain spectra. The reader is then introduced to tunneling reactions of solvated electrons in liquids and glasses, with emphasis on the mode of transport by which the electron induces such a reaction. A model of diffusion-controlled reactions incorporating a tunneling reaction mechanism is described. A chapter analyzing the use of radiation to produce reactions of free radicals from organic compounds in aqueous solution, including hydrocarbons and carbonyl compounds, concludes the book. This book will be of interest to scientists, students, and researchers working in the fields of chemistry and the molecular sciences.
