Download or read book Chasing Tail written by Jb Trepagnier and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2021-08-09 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A sad little mermaid trades her voice for legs to get a stupid human prince to fall in love with her. What a crock. That wasn't how my story went at all. That's not even how mermaids work. We can have legs whenever we want them. We just mostly choose not to because we dislike people who live on land. I never would have set foot there, but I needed to kill a druid king. Yeah, the little mermaid didn't come on land to fall in love with a prince. She went there to kill a king. There are rules. Certain waters are off limits for the land dwellers. He came to my home in a large ship and killed several of my friends. The sea council might want to let that slide, but he killed my sister, so now I have to end him. Getting close enough to the king to kill him is going to be hard. He has three sons that could be my answer to living through this. They aren't bad for druid royalty. Two of them are kindle and gentle. The other is a little mean in a way I can appreciate. Still, I don't trust any druid. Out of all the supernatural creatures on land, they are the worst. A lot of their magic requires bits from living beings and their ethics on getting those aren't exactly sound. I might like his sons, but this can't go anywhere. Most people tend to balk at relationships when you kill their father. I won't stop until it's done. I owe it to my sister.

This book was released on 2018-10-01 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this volume you will find 27 illustrated with a uniquely Slavonic flavour. In this volume you will find stories like “The Story Of Unlucky Daniel”, “The Vampire And St Michael”, “The Tsar And The Angel”, “The Story Of Ivan And The Daughter Of The Sun”, “The Straw Ox”, “The Golden Slipper”, “The Iron Wolf”, “The Story of the Wind” and many more, most not heard in the west for many a year. This volume of stories has been selected from a Slavonic dialect extraordinarily rich in folk-tales. The original language was Ruthenian, the language of the Ukrainian Steppe, and of the Cossacks. This was the first translation ever made from Ruthenian into English. Until Ukrainian independence the language was rigorously repressed by the Soviet Government, and has since been a foundation from which modern Ukrainian has been developed. It possesses a noble literature, numerous folk-songs and a copious collection of justly admired folk-tales, many of them of great antiquity, which are regarded, both in Russia and Poland, as quite unique of their kind. Because of this, these stories have a distinctly Slavic flavour for the Cossacks are a proud race of predominantly East Slavic-speaking people mainly located in Southern Russia and in South-Eastern Ukraine usually sparsely populated areas and islands in the lower Dnieper, Don, Terek and Ural river basins. They played an important role in the historical and cultural development of Ukraine. So, we invite you to download this collection of Cossack culture, sit back and enjoy these stories before you embark on reading them to a younger audience. One cannot imagine a child saying, 'Tell me a folk-tale', or 'Another nursery tale, please, grandma'. It must also be taken to cover tales in which something magical happens. Mostly it is the comical stupidity of some of the actors, as is so common in moral tales. In buying this book you will be giving in more than one way. Once to the Children in Need appeal and again, to yourself, as you read and enjoy stories not read for many a year. But should you perchance happen to read these stories to your children, nieces and nephews or grand-children, you will be giving yet again. 50% of the profit from the sale of this book will be donated to the appeal. So take some time out and travel back to a period before television, or even radio for that matter, when families would gather around a crackling and spitting hearth and granddad or grandma or an uncle or aunt would delight and captivate their audience with stories passed on to them from their mothers, fathers and grandparents. =============== TAGS: Folklore, fairy tales, myths, legends, children’s stories, bedtime, fables, lore, Children in Need, Appeal, Tom Tit Tot, English, King O'toole, Goose, Ireland, Origin Of Loch Ness, Scotland, Widow, Daughters, Fair, Brown, Trembling, Perfidious Vizier, Arabia, Frog's Skin, Turtle-Dove, Sage-Cock, Witch, Giant, Cause Of Thunder, West Africa, Parrot's Song, Armenia, Emperor Tenchi, Beggar King, Jewish, Foolish, Timid Rabbit, Cradle Song, Charmed Ring, Thirteenth Son, King Of Erin, Celtic, Minister, Fujiwara, Japan, Monkey’s Fiddle, Jataka, Daughter, Rose, Romania, Gypsy, Dragon, Sacred Duck, Yellow Breast, Tibet, Gelert, wales, Kingfisher, War Bonnet, American Indian, Sun, Moon, Wind, Out To Dinner, India, Night Before Christmas, Viking, Tail

Download or read book The Still Place written by Greg F. Gifune and published by JournalStone. This book was released on 2023-09-01 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Greg F. Gifune and Sandy DeLuca are two formidable writers in their own right. Together, they have crafted a vibrant, haunting novel that follows an artist named Mina, who is starting to wonder if her life is a failure, when she is given the chance to shine at an exclusive artists' colony. But since this is a horror novel, that golden opportunity eventually becomes something much more sinister. I drank this book in like a fine wine, and you will, too.” – L.L. Soares, author of Teach Them How to Bleed and Something Blue and Other Colorful Deaths When Mina, a troubled and struggling young painter, is awarded an artist’s residency offered by a small collective of eccentric artists in the mysterious coastal town of Crow’s Cry, she’s hopeful the opportunity will help get both her career and life back on track. Headed by the enigmatic, elderly, and internationally distinguished German artist Klaus Riker, a brilliant painter known for his unorthodox practice of combining art with spiritualism, the collective warmly welcomes Mina into their fold and provides her with every opportunity to take full advantage of the residency program. But in time Mina senses there may be something more going on in Crow’s Cry than meets the eye. There is something strange and unsettling about the collective, about the dark old house on the cliffs where Klaus lives and hosts his community of artists, about the horrifying dreams Mina keeps having, and even something disturbing about the paintings Mina’s working on herself. As she becomes increasingly isolated from the outside world and drawn deeper into the collective and their unusual practices, Mina begins to suspect that Klaus and the others may not be exactly what they seem. Could their motivations for selecting her be far darker and dangerous than she imagined, or is it only Mina’s personal demons and paranoia at play? As she delves deeper into what may actually be going on, Mina creeps closer to the truth behind not only her own troubled soul, but the collective, their plans for her, and the unspeakable horror that awaits her in THE STILL PLACE.
