Book Design Guide for Reinforced Concrete Columns

Download or read book Design Guide for Reinforced Concrete Columns written by and published by . This book was released on 2023-11 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of this guide is to provide comprehensive information on the design and detailing of reinforced concrete columns in buildings assigned to any Seismic Design Category. The design and detailing requirements in ACI 318-14 are clearly summarized in tables and figures for quick reference. Numerous design aids and flow charts are provided that can be used to determine the size of the cross-section and the required amounts of longitudinal and transverse reinforcement for members subjected to axial compression or combined flexure and axial compression. Slenderness effects are also covered, including methods on how to size a column so that such effects can be neglected. A collection of design strength interaction diagrams are given in an appendix that covers tied, rectangular columns ranging in size from 12 to 48 in.; tied and spiral circular columns ranging in diameter from 12 to 48 in.; Grade 60 and Grade 80 longitudinal reinforcement; concrete compressive strengths from 4,000 psi to 14,000 psi; and longitudinal reinforcement ratios from 1% to less than 2.5%. Numerous worked-out examples illustrate the proper application of the code provisions and demonstrate the use of the design aids.

Book Reinforced Concrete Design

Download or read book Reinforced Concrete Design written by Prab Bhatt and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2006-05-02 with total page 796 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Setting out design theory for concrete elements and structures and illustrating the practical applications of the theory, the third edition of this popular textbook has been extensively rewritten and expanded to conform to the latest versions of BS8110 and EC2. It includes more than sixty clearly worked out design examples and over 600 diagrams, plans and charts as well as giving the background to the British Standard and Eurocode to explain the ‘why’ as well as the ‘how’ and highlighting the differences between the codes. New chapters on prestressed concrete and water retaining structures are included and the most commonly encountered design problems in structural concrete are covered. Invaluable for students on civil engineering degree courses; explaining the principles of element design and the procedures for the design of concrete buildings, its breadth and depth of coverage also make it a useful reference tool for practising engineers.

Book LIMIT STATE DESIGN OF REINFORCED CONCRETE

Download or read book LIMIT STATE DESIGN OF REINFORCED CONCRETE written by P. C. VARGHESE and published by PHI Learning Pvt. Ltd.. This book was released on 2008-09-23 with total page 577 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This substantially revised second edition takes into account the provisions of the revised Indian Code of practice for Plain and Reinforced Concrete IS 456 : 2000. It also provides additional data on detailing of steel to make the book more useful to practicing engineers. The chapter on Limit State of Durability for Environment has been completely revised and the new provisions of the code such as those for design for shear in reinforced concrete, rules for shearing main steel in slabs, lateral steel in columns, and stirrups in beams have been explained in detail in the new edition. This comprehensive and systematically organized book is intended for undergraduate students of Civil Engineering, covering the first course on Reinforced Concrete Design and as a reference for the practicing engineers. Besides covering IS 456 : 2000, the book also deals with the British and US Codes. Advanced topics of IS 456 : 2000 have been discussed in the companion volume Advanced Reinforced Concrete Design (also published by Prentice-Hall of India). The two books together cover all the topics in IS 456 : 2000 and many other topics which are so important in modern methods of design of reinforced concrete.

Book Comparison Study of Design Reinforced Concrete Column Using BS 8110 EUROCODE 2

Download or read book Comparison Study of Design Reinforced Concrete Column Using BS 8110 EUROCODE 2 written by Salfarina Bahar and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Columns are member that are generally support vertical and resist axial compressive loads. The basic function of a column is to carry axial (vertical) loads in reinforced concrete building frames. In addition to the axial load, however, the columns are required to sustain bending moments induced from the beams. This study is about comparison study which discusses the design of reinforced concrete column based on the most common code practices in Malaysia which are BS 8110 and EUROCODE 2. Each codes practice has their own design and procedures. In order to ease the comparison, analysis was carried out on several design examples using a computer program develops using Microsoft (MS) Excel. In the analysis, several parameters such as design moment, column height and size of column was varied to study the different between BS 8110 and EUROCODE 2. Using the parameters, the reinforcement design can be made after the section area obtained by a calculation. From the result, EC2 are better compared to BS 8110 because EC2 always consider that sway happened to braced structure from the calculations of second order effect whether it is being neglected or not.EC2 also more economic compared to BS 8110 because EC2 produced small moment with same moment.. -Author.
