Book Capacity Characterization of a MIMO OFDM Wireless Channel with BLAST Implementation

Download or read book Capacity Characterization of a MIMO OFDM Wireless Channel with BLAST Implementation written by Jaimal Soni and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 57 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the data rates and performance of current telecommunications technologies reach their limits, MIMO offers promising results allowing for higher spectral efficiencies (or capacities) through the use of multiple element antennas (MEAs). Conventional testing methods, however, cannot be used for multi-antenna systems due to the co-dependence of antenna and RF effects, and baseband hardware and software design. This dissertation specifies a novel MIMO-OFDM, BLAST-based testing design using a hybrid FPGA/DSP development platform from Lyrtech. The design allows for rapid implementation and a consistent indication of the channel impulse response. In addition, a multipath environment is further created to mimic a realistic high scattering scenario. A study of MIMO system capacity is performed along with measurements of an actual over-the-air (OTA) channel. Observations about capacity and the effect of MEA antenna separations are then drawn and conclusions made as to the overall ability to effectively test MIMO systems. The platform used is the result of efforts from several individuals within UW's CST group. My contributions and research are documented in this dissertation.

Book Radio Receivers for Systems of Fixed and Mobile Communications

Download or read book Radio Receivers for Systems of Fixed and Mobile Communications written by Vasiliy V. Logvinov and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-05-13 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The textbook acquaints the reader with the architecture of receivers of analog and digital radio systems, helps to study the stages of designing a modern radio receiver and reveals the reasons and methods for its effective operation in networks for various purposes. Particular attention is paid to the methods of generating and processing signals in the receivers of digital systems with multiple access, which make it possible to provide data transfer rates close to the maximum possible (according to Shannon). As a textbook for students studying methods of optimal signal reception, the book will also be useful to specialists in the field of telecommunications involved in the development of radio receivers. The book shows how the development of theoretical, circuitry and integrated technologies led to the active introduction of algorithmic methods for signal processing changed both the design of receivers and the methods of forming the information flow in free space (MIMO, beamforming). The creation of a global 5G network based on heterogeneous networks puts forward new requirements for the architecture of receivers, which are determined by the requirements to achieve high data rates, low time delays or use in networks with coordinated multipoint transmission and reception (CoMP). To consolidate the knowledge gained, the book includes a complete set of materials for online classes, including questions and answers, a guide to solving problems for each chapter, and computer modeling units of receivers in the MicroCAP environment, based on preliminary calculations.

Book MIMO System Technology for Wireless Communications

Download or read book MIMO System Technology for Wireless Communications written by George Tsoulos and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For broadband communications, it was frequency division multiplexing. For optical communications, it was wavelength division multiplexing. Then, for all types of networks it was code division. Breakthroughs in transmission speed were made possible by these developments, heralding next-generation networks of increasing capability in each case. The basic idea is the same: more channels equals higher throughput. For wireless communications, it is space-time coding using multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) technology. Providing a complete treatment of MIMO under a single cover, MIMO System Technology for Wireless Communications assembles coverage on all aspects of MIMO technology along with up-to-date information on key related issues. Contributors from leading academic and industrial institutions around the world share their expertise and lend the book a global perspective. They lead you gradually from basic to more advanced concepts, from propagation modeling and performance analysis to space-time codes, various systems, implementation options and limitations, practical system development considerations, field trials, and network planning issues. Linking theoretical analysis to practical issues, the book does not limit itself to any specific standardization or research/industrial initiatives. MIMO is the catalyst for the next revolution in wireless systems, and MIMO System Technology for Wireless Communications lays a thorough and complete foundation on which to build the next and future generations of wireless networks.

Book Wideband Channel Characterization for MIMO Scenario

Download or read book Wideband Channel Characterization for MIMO Scenario written by Justin T. Holzer and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Simulated data from an electromagnetic ray tracing tool is used (as a substitute for measured data) to obtain propagation data. One of the wideband estimation algorithms is then used to extract MIMO channel data from propagation data. From these estimated channels, parameters such as capacity, coherence bandwidth, RMS delay spread and maximum delay spread are compared (statistically) to those obtained from the SVA model. The comparisons of the different parameters show the ability of the SVA model to simulate wideband MIMO communication channels.

Book Capacity Analysis Modeling and Simulation of Mimo Channel

Download or read book Capacity Analysis Modeling and Simulation of Mimo Channel written by Shital Joshi and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012-08 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We have tried to describe two aspects of MIMO channels: channel capacity and channel modeling. We have analyzed the channel capacity of static and fading MIMO channels when the channel side information is available both at the transmitter and receiver, and when it is available only at the receiver. We have then modeled the MIMO channel in physical and angular domains to understand how it provides spatial multiplexing with the help of degrees of freedom. In physical domain modeling, we have modeled the MIMO channel in terms of individual physical paths. In angular domain modeling, we have described the MIMO channel with respect to fixed spatial basis functions defined by fixed angles that are determined by the spatial resolution of the antenna arrays. All the simulations have been performed on MATLAB 7.4.0.287 (R2007a).
