Book The Infinite View

Download or read book The Infinite View written by Ellen Tadd and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2017 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by internationally revered clairvoyant counselor and educator Ellen Tadd, The Infinite View is a spiritual classic in the making. People often lean towards either trusting their gut or relying on their analytical mind, but Tadd urges readers to consider a new approach that allows both emotions and the intellect to be guided by wisdom. Through describing how the Spirit, soul, and personality are integrated, she guides readers in deepening and expanding their perceptions to discover practical solutions to everyday challenges. According to Tadd, Spirit is the God Force that animates and empowers us and suffuses everyone and everything. But while Spirit is conscious and communicative, we haven't been taught to look for or listen to it. In fact, most of us have been conditioned not to look or listen. When we choose to attune our conscious mind with Spirit, we find ourselves able to engage life with greater clarity--even when it tests us through illness, death, loneliness, anxiety, or fear. The Infinite View offers tools and insights needed to achieve this attunement. Drawing on her personal narrative, as well as the experiences of her students, Tadd helps readers transform their understanding of themselves and the world around them.

Book Le processus psychosomatique

Book Pronoia Is the Antidote for Paranoia Revised and Expanded

Download or read book Pronoia Is the Antidote for Paranoia Revised and Expanded written by Rob Brezsny and published by North Atlantic Books. This book was released on 2009-09-22 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Readers were instantly beguiled by Rob Brezsny's new approach to the humble horoscope when his "Free Will Astrology" column first appeared in 1996. Instead of the generic, one-size-fits-all style of similar columns, Brezsny used witty parables, tender rants, cultural riffs, pagan wisdom, and lively rituals in his playfully positive readings. He brings that same sensibility—and the same message of a smiling universe—to this self-help book for people who may be skeptical about self-help books. Brezsny persuasively advises readers to go along with the universe's good intentions, but his rejection of cynicism and a bleak view of human nature isn't rooted in denial. On the contrary, he makes a case for a cagey optimism that requires a vigorous engagement with the dark forces. He asks us to rethink life as a sublime game created for our amusement and illumination. The book is a chameleon of a tome. You can read it straight through, slowly and surely, or else pick it up and open it at random for tasty hits of inspiration as the spirit moves you. You can even start at the end and weave your way backward. Brezsny has substantially updated this edition—he added nearly one hundred pages—by expanding various sections, adding more than a dozen new pieces and a new chapter, and providing readers with a number of playtime activities and exercises that let them participate through their own writing and drawing. "Brezsny's horoscopes are like little valentines, buoyant and spilling over with mischievousness. They're a soul prognosis." —The New York Times

Book The Wisdom of the Chakras

    Book Details:
  • Author : Ellen Tadd
  • Publisher : Lantern Books
  • Release : 2010-08-01
  • ISBN : 1590562666
  • Pages : 130 pages

Download or read book The Wisdom of the Chakras written by Ellen Tadd and published by Lantern Books. This book was released on 2010-08-01 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some people are extremely bright yet emotionally crippled. Others are very loving, yet their daily lives are chaotic. Many have great faith but little clarity, while others are creative but stymied by a lack of confidence. Why are people so lopsided in their development? Why do some of us feel love but find ourselves unable to express it? Why do some of us commit ourselves to an endeavor from the heart only to become disenchanted? Why do some of us feel confident and powerful within ourselves, yet become frightened when we try to realize our potential? Answers to such questions may be found in the chakra system, the seven ethereal centers that both reflect and influence the qualities of our nature. Some twenty years ago, the author a clairvoyant from youth began her examination of the chakra system to explain the imbalances so prevalent in people today and found that it does much more. In addition to correcting imbalances that prevent us from reaching our aspirations in life, the chakras also help us realize the spiritual beings we truly are already. "The Wisdom of the Chakras" is the result of Ellen Tadd s years of spiritual exploration and counseling work. She shows how the chakra system functions in everyday life, how our thoughts, words, and actions affect this system, and how the chakras in turn shape us. She also provides practical exercises that can be integrated easily into daily life to heal each chakra and attain the alignment needed for a healthy and spiritual life. The author describes each of the seven chakras, their functions, and their individual and interconnected qualities and components. Although each chakra is discussed independently, each nonetheless functions as part of an interdependent cooperative whole. As a result, the chakra system offers a framework and the tools needed to understand numerous common imbalances, individually and in combination, helping the reader to integrate the various characteristics and create greater harmony and balance in daily life. For those who find themselves and their lives out of balance, the practical answers in "The Wisdom of the Chakras" will encourage them to look more deeply into our common nature and begin to see that our human nature is also the nature of the larger cosmos."

Book excerpt: When The Sound of the One Hand came out in Japan in 1916 it caused a scandal. Zen was a secretive practice, its wisdom relayed from master to novice in strictest privacy. That a handbook existed recording not only the riddling koans that are central to Zen teaching but also detailing the answers to them seemed to mark Zen as rote, not revelatory. For all that, The Sound of the One Hand opens the door to Zen like no other book. Including koans that go back to the master who first brought the koan teaching method from China to Japan in the eighteenth century, this book offers, in the words of the translator, editor, and Zen initiate Yoel Hoffmann, the clearest, most detailed, and most correct picture of Zen that can be found. What we have here is an extraordinary introduction to Zen thought as lived thought, a treasury of problems, paradoxes, and performance that will appeal to artists, writers, and philosophers as well as Buddhists and students of religion."

Book The French Revolution in Global Perspective

Download or read book The French Revolution in Global Perspective written by Suzanne Desan and published by Cornell University Press. This book was released on 2013-03-19 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Situating the French Revolution in the context of early modern globalization for the first time, this book offers a new approach to understanding its international origins and worldwide effects. A distinguished group of contributors shows that the political culture of the Revolution emerged out of a long history of global commerce, imperial competition, and the movement of people and ideas in places as far flung as India, Egypt, Guiana, and the Caribbean. This international approach helps to explain how the Revolution fused immense idealism with territorial ambition and combined the drive for human rights with various forms of exclusion. The essays examine topics including the role of smuggling and free trade in the origins of the French Revolution, the entwined nature of feminism and abolitionism, and the influence of the French revolutionary wars on the shape of American empire. The French Revolution in Global Perspective illuminates the dense connections among the cultural, social, and economic aspects of the French Revolution, revealing how new political forms-at once democratic and imperial, anticolonial and centralizing-were generated in and through continual transnational exchanges and dialogues. Contributors: Rafe Blaufarb, Florida State University; Ian Coller, La Trobe University; Denise Davidson, Georgia State University; Suzanne Desan, University of Wisconsin-Madison; Lynn Hunt, University of California, Los Angeles; Andrew Jainchill, Queen's University; Michael Kwass, The Johns Hopkins University; William Max Nelson, University of Toronto; Pierre Serna, Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne; Miranda Spieler, University of Arizona; Charles Walton, Yale University

Book 320 rue St Jacques

Download or read book 320 rue St Jacques written by Wendy Michallat and published by White Rose University Press. This book was released on 2018-08-31 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In November 1939 Madeleine Blaess, a French-born, British-raised student, set off for Paris to study for a doctorate in Medieval French literature at the Sorbonne. In June 1940, the German invasion cut off her escape route to the ports, preventing her return to Britain. She was forced to remain in France for the duration of the Occupation and in October 1940 began to write a diary. Intended initially as a replacement letter to her parents in York, she wrote it in French and barely missed an entry for almost four years. Madeleine’s diary is unique as she wrote it to record as much as she could about everyday life, people and events so she could use these written traces to rekindle memories later for the family from whom she had been parted. Many diaries of that era focus on the political situation. Madeleine’s diary does reflect and engage with military and political events. It also provides an unprecedented day-by-day account of the struggle to manage material deprivation, physical hardship, mental exhaustion and depression during the Occupation. The diary is also a record of Madeleine’s determination to achieve her ambition to become a university academic at a time when there was little encouragement for women to prioritise education and career over marriage and motherhood. Her diary is edited and translated here for the first time.
