Download or read book Centralization Versus Decentralization of Information Systems written by Jacob Akoka and published by . This book was released on 2015-08-05 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Centralization Versus Decentralization of Information Systems: A Critical Survey and an Annotated Bibliography The literature dealing with the issues related to distributed management information systems is rapidly expanding. This literature may be classified in two categories: the management-oriented literature which is concerned with the issue of centralization versus decentralization of information systems and the management of distributed processing; the technically-oriented literature which deals with issues such as optimizing distributed networks and currency control in computer networks. This survey deals only with the first aspect of distributed systems. In the first part of this paper, a critical study of the state of the art in distributed management information systems is provided. In the second part, an annotated bibliography related to the issue of centralization versus decentralization of information systems is presented. This bibliography updates the one published by the Center for Information Systems Research (CISR) (1976) (1). Book Decentralized Systems and Distributed Computing

Download or read book Decentralized Systems and Distributed Computing written by Sandhya Avasthi and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2024-08-20 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive exploration of next-generation internet, distributed systems, and distributed computing, offering valuable insights into their impact on society and the future of technology. The use of distributed systems is a big step forward in IT and computer science. As the number of tasks that depend on each other grows, a single machine can no longer handle all of them. Distributed computing is better than traditional computer settings in several ways. Distributed systems reduce the risks of a single point of failure, making them more reliable and able to handle mistakes. Most modern distributed systems are made to be scalable, which means that processing power can be added on the fly to improve performance. The internet of the future is meant to give us freedom and choices, encourage diversity and decentralization, and make it easier for people to be creative and do research. By making the internet more three-dimensional and immersive, the metaverse could introduce more ways to use it. Some people have expressed negative things about the metaverse, and there is much uncertainty regarding its future. Analysts in the field have pondered if the metaverse will differ much from our current digital experiences, and if so, whether people will be willing to spend hours per day exploring virtual space while wearing a headset. This book will look at the different aspects of the next-generation internet, distributed systems, distributed computing, and their effects on society as a whole.

Book An Introduction to Distributed Data Processing

Download or read book An Introduction to Distributed Data Processing written by Harry Katzan and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two functions that are fundamental to organized society are communication and dispersion. Communication provides a means for information to be accumulated, and dispersion permits effective and efficient use of resources. Communication and dispersion also provide the basis for a major technological advance in the computer field known as Distributed Data Processing. The move to distributed data processing offers five general benefits: reliability, responsiveness, incremental growth, correspondence to organizational patterns, and resource sharing. The objective of this book is to summarize the key concepts of distributed data processing from an introductory point of view.

Book History of Nordic Computing 2

Download or read book History of Nordic Computing 2 written by John Impagliazzo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-09-21 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The First Conference on the History of Nordic Computing (HiNC1) was organized in Trondheim, in June 2003. The HiNC1 event focused on the early years of computing, that is the years from the 1940s through the 1960s, although it formally extended to year 1985. In the preface of the proceedings of HiNC1, Janis Bubenko, Jr. , John Impagliazzo, and Arne Sølvberg describe well the peculiarities of early Nordic c- puting [1]. While developing hardware was a necessity for the first professionals, quite soon the computer became an industrial product. Computer scientists, among others, grew increasingly interested in programming and application software. P- gress in these areas from the 1960s to the 1980s was experienced as astonishing. The developments during these decades were taken as the focus of HiNC2. During those decades computers arrived to every branch of large and medium-sized businesses and the users of the computer systems were no longer only computer s- cialists but also people with other main duties. Compared to the early years of comp- ing before 1960, where the number of computer projects and applications was small, capturing a holistic view of the history between the 1960s and the 1980s is conside- bly more difficult. The HiNC2 conference attempted to help in this endeavor.
