Book excerpt: Introduction Proverbs 25:28 A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls. Isn't celibacy hard? People always ask me "Isn't staying celibate hard?" This is my response. "The first month was hard...The first year was hard, but now it's easy." So the real question is, "how bad do you want it?" Becoming Celibate is like learning how to ride a bike... Learning to ride a bike for the first time when you were a kid, was "hard" but, you didn't give up! You knew other kids were riding bikes, and you wanted to experience that "sense of freedom" of riding a bike, on your own. The long term rewards are the prize! Becoming Celibate is not easy when you first start, but the long term "rewards" of success of staying celibate, outweigh the "difficulty" of getting there. So what is your reason for choosing to be celibate? What is the reason you want to be celibate? That is what you should focus on. Not on how hard it must be to maintain celibacy. As believers, we know that God is strong. Lean on God for support, by reading his words. God makes all things that seem impossible...possible! Candid confessions about past love sex and relationships I speak candidly in this book about my past. So if you are offended by reading about a person's feelings, emotions and experiences related to sex, relationships and hooking up, don't read this book. However if you think it might be interesting and informative to learn from a now "celibate woman's" perspective, then you may really enjoy reading this book. If you dislike reading about God… If you dislike reading about God, don't read this book. God is a big part of my life and my major reason and inspiration for becoming celibate. I would not call myself "Christian" but I am definitely a believer. You may have found this book in a "Christian" section. Regarding my faith, I just say, "I believe in God."

Book excerpt: The darkness was thick with wandering scents, and Mildred's thoughts withered in the heat. She closed her eyes; she lay quite still, but the fever of the night devoured her; the sheet burned like a flame; she opened her eyes, and was soon thinking as eagerly as before. She thought of the various possibilities that marriage would shut out to her forever. She reproached herself for having engaged herself to Alfred Stanby, and remembered that Harold had been opposed to the match, and had refused to give his consent until Alfred was in a position to settle five hundred a year upon her. Alfred would expect her to keep house for him exactly as she was now keeping house for her brother. Year after year the same thing, seeing Alfred go away in the morning, seeing him come home in the evening. That was how her life would pass. She did not wish to be cruel; she knew that Alfred would suffer terribly if she broke off her engagement, but it would be still more cruel to marry him if she did not think she would make him happy, and the conviction that she would not make him happy pressed heavily upon her. What was she to do? She could not, she dared not, face the life he offered her. It would be selfish of her to do so.

Book What You Probably Didn t Know About Sex and Celibacy

Download or read book What You Probably Didn t Know About Sex and Celibacy written by Simona Rich and published by Simona Rich. This book was released on 2016-05-01 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sex & Celibacy is a 180-page ebook about my celibacy journey. I share not only my experiences and advice, but also include the accounts and important warnings of the celibates of the past who were occultists, spiritual teachers, writers, inventors, artists, and more. This ebook was first released in May 2015. It was fully revised and updated in May 2016, with my new experiences and newly-found genuine accounts of yet more celibates, especially saints. Seven reasons why I wrote this ebook 1.) I’ve decided to share my celibacy journey so that it serves as a source of inspiration for current celibates to continue walking this road; 2.) So that it serves as a source of information for those who are thinking about this lifestyle and want to find out what they can expect from it. 3.) Over the years of my spiritual journey, I have come across many incorrect accounts in regard to celibacy, like in patriarchal religious texts of the East which probably suffered additions like the Bible did. (These distortions about sex and celibacy especially target women, so I consider it my responsibility to dispel all these falsities through revealing my first-hand experience on the matter, as well as quoting reliable sources that support my experiences and thus prove them to be genuine.) 4.) I’ve also written this ebook to at least to some extent remove the repulsion about the word “celibacy”, since many practice celibacy when they’re totally not ready for it and thus truly misguide others about this lifestyle (such as priests that have no choice about the matter). Because of this, indulgence in sense-pleasures is chosen over celibacy, which serves to stall the spiritual development of a human that’s not ready. 5.) When one becomes interested in such a road, usually he is exposed to age-old religious teachings that were copied and distorted throughout the ages by those who weren’t celibates or practiced celibacy for all the wrong reasons (thus not being able to receive any celibacy benefits). Reading such texts and looking at the lives of such people only serves to misguide and off-put a would-be celibate. So usually a conclusion is arrived at that celibacy is a road to misery. In truth, it’s a road to total freedom and bliss, and you’ll think this way too after reading the book. 6.) Not only most people practice celibacy for all the wrong reasons, but they don’t even know how to practice it. As a result, sexual impulses are not transformed into spiritual ones, but suppressed instead. This, with time, results in uncontrollable anger outbursts, addictions, perversions of all sorts, or mental imbalances. In the Sex & Celibacy book, you’ll read about how to transmute the energy of sex to experience celibacy blessings such as higher intelligence and spiritual growth. 7.) Finally, I felt it necessary to share my celibacy experiences because the female take on celibacy is almost non-existent. Though somewhat distorted, Vedic and Taoist sources still serve as a source of inspiration and information for men. But many of such accounts are in no way helpful to women, and, as I mention in the book, can even stop their spiritual progress, since some of the teachings are clearly anti-female. So I consider it essential to share my celibacy experiences as a woman. To follow the road of celibacy successfully, as well as to gain spiritual blessings, two essential rules must be met: You must be ready to follow such a path (most people aren’t). You must practice celibacy correctly (most people don’t). This ebook explains in detail about how to meet both of these requirements. Here’s what Sex & Celibacy ebook covers: Celibacy benefits Celibacy dangers Things you must know before becoming celibate Who shouldn’t practice celibacy How to practice celibacy correctly What is real celibacy, and what isn’t (most people claiming to be celibates aren’t) Church misunderstanding of celibacy and a resulting disaster What takes place spiritually during the act of sex Lost information on conception: exact days conception and delivery should occur for a developed soul to enter this dimension Immaculate conception Spirit possession during sex Astral body dangers for celibates Creative power of celibates and how not to misuse it Signs showing that you should become celibate What Jesus really says about celibacy What happens to the energy body during celibacy What happens to the energy body during sex Hidden teachings on celibacy and sex in books such as the Bible and A Course in Miracles How luciferian forces operate in the human body and why How luciferian forces penetrated the human body The real function of the astral body and astral realms Sex – and attempt to escape from the background of pain What you should know about masturbation An easy yogic method to maintain celibacy My diary entries concerning sex and celibacy Conquering the serpent of lust Two alternative roads (for those who find celibacy too difficult) Misunderstood unconditional love … And so much more! I sincerely believe that this ebook contains all you need to know about celibacy. It explains what dangers you need to be aware of on this road, what kind of blessings you’ll experience if you follow this road correctly, how to practice celibacy in the right way, as well as who should practice celibacy and who isn’t yet ready. What’s more, not only will this ebook fully inform you about this unusual, yet bliss-filled lifestyle, but it will also open your eyes to the true nature of sex.

Download or read book Watching Them Be written by James Harvey and published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux. This book was released on 2014-07-08 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An intimate, thought-provoking exploration of the mysteries of "star presence" in cinema "One does not go to see them act," James Baldwin wrote about the great iconic movie stars, "one goes to watch them be." It seems obvious . . . Where else besides the movies do you get to see other persons so intimately, so pressingly, so largely? Where else are you allowed such sustained and searching looks as you give to these strangers on the screen, whoever they really are? In life you try not to stare; but at the movies that's exactly what you get to do, two hours or more—safely, raptly, even blissfully. It's this sort of amplified, heightened, sometimes transcendent "seeing" that James Harvey explores in Watching Them Be. Marvelously vivid and perceptive, and impressively erudite, this is his take on how aura is communicated in movies. Beginning where Roland Barthes left off with the face of Greta Garbo and ending with Robert Bresson's Au hasard Balthazar (and its inscrutable nonhuman star), Harvey moves nimbly and expertly through film history, celebrating actors and directors who have particularly conveyed a feeling of transcendence. From Marlene Dietrich to John Wayne to Robert De Niro, from Nashville to Jackie Brown to Masculine/Feminine and the implicitly or explicitly religious films of Roberto Rossellini and Carl Theodor Dreyer, this is one man's personal, deeply felt account of the films that have changed his life. They will also, Harvey suggests, change yours.

Book From Celibate Catholic Priest to Married Protestant Minister

Download or read book From Celibate Catholic Priest to Married Protestant Minister written by Stephen Joseph Fichter and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2015-07-15 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Celibate Catholic Priest to Married Protestant Minister: Shepherding in Greener Pastures describes a previously unstudied population of celibate Catholic priests who left the priesthood and eventually became married Protestant ministers. Stephen Fichter alternates from narrative to descriptive as he follows the lives of three of his study participants before, during, and after their dual transition. The descriptive sections include a history of religiously motivated celibacy and a review of the four leading forerunners in the field of Catholic clergy research. This scholarly study is the first time that these transitional clerics have candidly explained their difficult journeys of discernment. Religion, love, loss, and commitment are all analyzed in the context of this unique group of men, and the profiles in this book are memorable not only for the richness of their content, but also—and maybe most importantly—for their humanity. Lessons can be drawn for all people, especially those who have ever suffered a mid-life crisis.

Book The Physiology of Marriage

    Book Details:
  • Author : Honoré de Balzac
  • Publisher : Graphic Arts Books
  • Release : 2020-12-01
  • ISBN : 1513273299
  • Pages : 251 pages

Download or read book The Physiology of Marriage written by Honoré de Balzac and published by Graphic Arts Books. This book was released on 2020-12-01 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Physiology of Marriage (1829) is a book length essay by French writer Honoré de Balzac. Written from the point of view of an author who has overheard scandalous conversations between two women, The Physiology of Marriage is both a critique of the institution of marriage and a satirical attempt to scientifically explain the cause and frequency of marital infidelity. The essay was an early success for Balzac, gaining him a reputation as a talented writer and creative critic of contemporary French society. The essay consists of a series of meditations that approach marriage through a variety of scientific, philosophical, and anecdotal methods. Arguing that marriage is an institution that runs counter to human nature, the author uses questionable mathematics to calculate the number of married women in France who are likely to seek out affairs in order to feel a passion denied to them. Describing the likely signs of marital infidelity—standoffishness, a change in dress, lack of romance—he claims that French men have grown far too accepting of their wives’ affairs. Rather than reject the institution altogether—he sees it as integral to upholding the social order—the author suggests that young women be allowed a certain amount of freedom to explore their romantic inclinations and to prepare themselves for the banality of married life. The Physiology of Marriage finds satire in treating seriously and scientifically the often hidden and always complex matters of the heart, as well as through its suggestion that women, not men, are to blame for the proliferation of infidelity in France. With a beautifully designed cover and professionally typeset manuscript, this edition of Honoré de Balzac’s The Physiology of Marriage is a classic of French literature reimagined for modern readers.

Book Celibacy Curse of Catholicism

Download or read book Celibacy Curse of Catholicism written by Mary Jo Berscheit and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2006-06-23 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book author Mary Jo Berscheit challenges the Roman Catholic Church with its anti-Christ stand on clerical celibacy, forbidding of birth control, insistence on private confession, papal infallibility and declaring itself to be the “one true church” – with the resultant torment for mankind. Her words describe her experiences, and those of others, weighed against the teaching of God’s Word, the Bible. Or, even more specifically, words spoken to her by the Holy Spirit as when a Catholic priest announced from the altar at Sunday Mass: “Just remember this! Nobody but Roman Catholics go to Heaven!” And the Holy Spirit said authoritatively to her: “That’s not true!”
