Elles s'inscrivent à la fois dans la continuité de prophètes guérisseurs de l'Ancien Testament, mais elles indiquent aussi une familiarité de Jésus, tel que Luc le présente, avec une déontologie hippocratique gréco-romaine où la guérison est offerte à ceux qui ne peuvent se la payer, et en démarcation avec le paganisme ambiant.
