The Cayman Islands have become one of the most popular destinations in the Caribbean Sea, attracting tourists with miles of pristine sandy beaches, elaborate waterfront resorts and coves bursting with marine life. Snorkeling is a favorite activity on all three of the islands, with Grand Cayman offering some of the most visited spots, including Stingray City. Several tour companies operating on the island provide transportation to Stingray City for a chance to swim and interact with friendly Southern Stingrays. The Cayman Islands are a British Overseas Territory in the Western Caribbean, with three islands in the sea located 480 miles south of Miami. Grand Cayman is the largest of the islands, with an area of about 76 square miles and a calm, reef-protected lagoon known as North Sound, which is conducive to snorkeling and scuba diving. Stingray City is a series of shallow sandbars that lie in the northwest corner of North Sound, in a natural channel as it passes from Morgan Harbor to Rum Poin.

Book Contemporary Studies in Environment and Tourism

Download or read book Contemporary Studies in Environment and Tourism written by Recep Efe and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2017-05-11 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The tourism industry is striving hard to create attractive worlds for its customers. Both as a necessity and as a challenge, this field is overwhelmed by the imagination economy, but raises several questions about tourists, providing opportunities to move deeper into the understanding of complexities involved in relationships among tourists, tourism sites and their historical structure, and environmental sustainability. As a result of this, a serious academic interest in tourism has developed over recent decades as a complex aspect of investigation into humans and their environment. This volume brings together case studies from different parts of the world, focusing on tourism and its interactions with the environment. It provides a general outline of theoretical issues and their practicality in different industrialising countries from both the East and the West. The book will appeal to researchers involved in tourism studies and environmental interactions, as well as academicians and tourism agencies.
