Book Fabric Compatibility and Cleaning Effectiveness of Drycleaning with Carbon Dioxide

Download or read book Fabric Compatibility and Cleaning Effectiveness of Drycleaning with Carbon Dioxide written by and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Liquid carbon dioxide (CO2) offers an environmentally sound replacement solvent to the currently used drycleaning solvent, perchloroethylene (PERC). In addition to the health and safety benefits of a CO2 based cleaning system, large savings in solvent costs provide an incentive for conversion to the new system. Lower operating costs for the new technology provide further incentive. Experimental studies were conducted using CO2 in both small scale and pilot scale test systems in order to address fabric compatibility with this alternative cleaning method. Results from these tests show that fabric shrinkage using CO2 is controlled to the same level as current drycleaning methods. In addition, tests to evaluate the cleaning performance of liquid CO2 drycleaning were also conducted. These results show the prototype liquid CO2 cleaning system to be better than PERC at soil removal, and worse than PERC at inorganic salt removal.

Book Handbook on Japanese Military Forces

Download or read book Handbook on Japanese Military Forces written by U.S. War Department and published by LSU Press. This book was released on 1995-08-01 with total page 667 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1944 the U.S. Army published this manual for its officers in the Pacific Theater an expanded version of the original 1942 manual of the same name—and ever since, it has been the best single reference source on the wartime Japanese military available in the English language. By 1944, the army had had time to assess its enemy closely and was coming to understand him, and its vast knowledge was distilled into the handbook. The handbook details the Japanese military system, field organization, tactics, and weapons and equipment, and the strengths and weaknesses that resulted from them. Extensively illustrated, it contains sections on the Japanese special forces, the military police, uniforms and insignia, and conventional signs and abbreviations. It covers, besides the army, the Japanese Air Service, with emphasis on its tactics and organization. Issued to officers for briefings and periodically updated, the handbook’s purpose was to assist in the winning of the war, and thus it strove to be absolutely reliable for its users in combat. It was compiled by a team of officers who integrated the research of others, and it contains information provided by the U.S. Marines and also by British and Australian intelligence. Packed with information, it is a major primary source that military historians and World War II buffs will find fascinating.
