Having laid otherworldly rumors to rest before, Juniper is skeptical, but the alarms aren't going off and, besides, who else would want to throw a wrench into the works--Jack's ex-girlfriend, another business owner, or the local historian who's scheduled a town meeting to protest the flippers' plans for the home. When the mischief turns deadly, Juniper calls ina part-time paranormal investigator but the man's discoveries leave her thinking that her problem is more personal than paranormal.Between the Christmas holidays and training her new staff, Juniper doesn't have time to track down a murderer, but with the "ghost of the manor" constantly coming out of the woodwork, she doesn't have much choice. Opening day is fast approaching and the "woman in white" has led her to yet another stiff in the cellar. Now Junie and her merry band of Bohemians must nail down a murderer--before their Christmas goose is cooked. It's the most wonderful time to get wrapped up in a spirited holiday murder! The corpses are piling up, and there's a Grinch out there riling up the town against the new Gothic Inn. It's the most wonderful time to break-in!

Book Cr me Eggs Corpses and the Farmhouse Fixer Upper

Download or read book Cr me Eggs Corpses and the Farmhouse Fixer Upper written by Rachael Stapleton and published by . This book was released on 2019-11-30 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you love a good, old, family fixer-upper holiday styled cozy with skeletons around the dinner table, then you'll want to one-click this book today! Crème Eggs, Corpses and the Farmhouse Fixer Upper is the fourth of the series dedicated to the haunted house flippers. After a shooting occurs at the Farmhouse Fixer Upper, Bohemian Lake's favorite house flippers follow the clues down the rabbit hole--an old asylum-turned-art-studio, and what they find is most haunting. House Flippers Jack & Juniper have invited Junie's art enthusiast family to stay with them at their latest purchase--a romantic old farmhouse in a pastoral setting, where the Bohemian Lake Art Council & Festival Committee are holding the Alice in Easter Land Egg Hunt & Auction. The only problem, Juniper has to collect the Auction's main bid--one of the Romanov's recovered Imperial Easter Eggs from a haunted asylum-turned-creative-space where a poltergeist has latched itself onto the rare piece of work. What's worse than that? Interacting with her dad's new girlfriend, the snooty art specialist who procured it. With the holiday dinner fast approaching, bodies pile higher than goodies in an Easter basket and they all point to the possibility that there's a bad egg at the table. The world of art in Bohemian Lake paints a very abstract two-sided picture where no one and no thing is what they seem. While the series is best enjoyed in order, each book is a complete mystery on its own. For those of you who are new to my books, the Bohemian Lake series is a world comprised of multiple sets. Book Haunting Experiences

  • Author : Diane Goldstein
  • Publisher : University Press of Colorado
  • Release : 2007-09-15
  • ISBN : 0874216818
  • Pages : 282 pages

Download or read book Haunting Experiences written by Diane Goldstein and published by University Press of Colorado. This book was released on 2007-09-15 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ghosts and other supernatural phenomena are widely represented throughout modern culture. They can be found in any number of entertainment, commercial, and other contexts, but popular media or commodified representations of ghosts can be quite different from the beliefs people hold about them, based on tradition or direct experience. Personal belief and cultural tradition on the one hand, and popular and commercial representation on the other, nevertheless continually feed each other. They frequently share space in how people think about the supernatural. In Haunting Experiences, three well-known folklorists seek to broaden the discussion of ghost lore by examining it from a variety of angles in various modern contexts. Diane E. Goldstein, Sylvia Ann Grider, and Jeannie Banks Thomas take ghosts seriously, as they draw on contemporary scholarship that emphasizes both the basis of belief in experience (rather than mere fantasy) and the usefulness of ghost stories. They look closely at the narrative role of such lore in matters such as socialization and gender. And they unravel the complex mix of mass media, commodification, and popular culture that today puts old spirits into new contexts.

A man returns to the town where a baffling murder took place 27 years earlier, determined to get to the bottom of the story. Just hours after marrying the beautiful Angela Vicario, everyone agrees, Bayardo San Roman returned his bride in disgrace to her parents. Her distraught family forced her to name her first lover; and her twin brothers announced their intention to murder Santiago Nasar for dishonoring their sister. Yet if everyone knew the murder was going to happen, why did no one intervene to stop it? The more that is learned, the less is understood, as the story races to its inexplicable conclusion.

Book The Films of Tim Burton

Download or read book The Films of Tim Burton written by Alison McMahan and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2014-08-21 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most Tim Burton films are huge box-office successes, and several are already classics. The director's mysterious and eccentric public persona attracts a lot of attention, while the films themselves have been somewhat overlooked. Here, Alison McMahan redresses this imbalance through a close analysis of Burton's key films () and their industrial context. She argues that Burton has been a crucial figure behind many of the transformations taking place in horror, fantasy, and sci-fi films over the last two decades, and demonstrates how his own work draws on a huge range of artistic influences: the films of George Melies, surrealism, installation art, computer games, and many more. The Films of Tim Burton is the most in-depth analysis so far of the work of this unusual filmmaker - a director who has shown repeatedly that it is possible to reject mainstream Hollywood contentions while maintaining critical popularrity and commercial success.

Before fleeing the scene, Daisy also manages to grab what proves to be crucial evidence: a necklace from around the killer’s neck. Book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil

Download or read book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil written by John Berendt and published by Random House. This book was released on 1994-01-13 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NATIONAL BESTSELLER • A modern classic of true crime, set in a most beguiling Southern city—now in a 30th anniversary edition with a new afterword by the author “Elegant and wicked . . . might be the first true-crime book that makes the reader want to book a bed and breakfast for an extended weekend at the scene of the crime.”—The New York Times Book Review Shots rang out in Savannah’s grandest mansion in the misty, early morning hours of May 2, 1981. Was it murder or self-defense? For nearly a decade, the shooting and its aftermath reverberated throughout this hauntingly beautiful city of moss-hung oaks and shaded squares. In this sharply observed, suspenseful, and witty narrative, John Berendt skillfully interweaves a hugely entertaining first-person account of life in this isolated remnant of the Old South with the unpredictable twists and turns of a landmark murder case. It is a spellbinding story peopled by a gallery of remarkable characters: the well-bred society ladies of the Married Woman’s Card Club; the turbulent young gigolo; the hapless recluse who owns a bottle of poison so powerful it could kill every man, woman, and child in Savannah; the aging and profane Southern belle who is the “soul of pampered self-absorption”; the uproariously funny drag queen; the acerbic and arrogant antiques dealer; the sweet-talking, piano-playing con artist; young people dancing the minuet at the black debutante ball; and Minerva, the voodoo priestess who works her magic in the graveyard at midnight. These and other Savannahians act as a Greek chorus, with Berendt revealing the alliances, hostilities, and intrigues that thrive in a town where everyone knows everyone else. Brilliantly conceived and masterfully written, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil is a sublime and seductive reading experience.
