The measures taken by the industry to resolve these difficulties are discussed and further measures or developments implemented in recent months are outlined. The document ends with conclusions.

Book Natural Gas Market Assessment

Download or read book Natural Gas Market Assessment written by Canada. National Energy Board and published by Calgary : National Energy Board. This book was released on 1997 with total page 49 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Deregulation of natural gas markets in the mid-1980s brought about significant new trends in gas contracting practices, such as increased flexibility for buyers and sellers, simpler and shorter contract terms, and a wider range of contracting options and services. This update identifies those changes that have occurred since 1991 in long-term contracts, including both new contracts executed since 1991 as well as changes to those that were in effect in 1991. The update is based on analysis of a data base of almost 200 long-term contracts, including most export contracts filed with the National Energy Board as of May 1996. The main focus of the update is on contract terms and conditions. It documents the impact of the withdrawal of US interstate pipelines from their traditional merchant function on long- term contracts for Canadian gas, discusses trends with respect to pricing and pricing indices used by the contracting parties, and examines mechanisms used to secure contractual obligations as compared to earlier periods. The final section identifies important differences between domestic and export contracting patterns.

Book China s Gas Development Strategies

Download or read book China s Gas Development Strategies written by Shell International B.V. and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-11-23 with total page 515 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is open access under a CC BY 4.0 license. This book examines how China can increase the share of natural gas in its energy system. China’s energy strategy has global ramifications and impact, and central to this strategy is the country’s transition from coal to gas. The book presents the culmination of a two-year collaboration between the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC) and Shell. With the Chinese government’s strategic aim to increase the share of gas in the energy mix from 5.8% in 2014 to 10% and 15% in 2020 and 2030 respectively, the book outlines how China can achieve its gas targets. Providing both quantifiable metrics and policy measures for the transition, it is a much needed addition to the literature on Chinese energy policy. The research and the resulting recommendations of this study have fed directly into the Chinese government’s 13th Five-Year Plan, and provide unique insights into the Chinese government and policy-making. Due to its global impact, the book is a valuable resource for policy makers in both China and the rest of the world.

Book Carbon Province Hydro Province

Download or read book Carbon Province Hydro Province written by Douglas Macdonald and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2020 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why has Canada been unable to achieve any of its climate change targets? Part of the reason is that emissions in two provinces, Alberta and Saskatchewan, have been steadily increasing as a result of expanding oil and gas production. Declining emissions in other provinces, such as Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick, have been cancelled out by those western increases. The ultimate explanation for Canadian failure lies in the differing energy interests of the western and eastern provinces. How can Ottawa possibly get all the provinces moving in the same direction of decreasing emissions? To answer this question, Douglas Macdonald explores the five attempts to date to put in place co-ordinated national policy in the fields of energy and climate change - from Pierre Trudeau's ill-fated National Energy Program to Justin Trudeau's bitterly contested Pan-Canadian program - analyzing and comparing them for the first time.
