But the serenity of housework shattered when her husband's employer called to say that he was being rushed to the hospital after collapsing on the job. Suddenly Laura's chief concern was no longer which paperback she should toss into her beach bag but rather the life and death struggle facing her husband as he tried to survive the devastating effects of a brain aneurysm. Plunged into a nightmare of surgeons, nurses, hospital rooms and operations, Laura battles her own pain to aid in her husband's recovery. What begins as a laundry list of questions for his doctors evolves into the heart-rending narrative Can You Feel My Tears? Written to comfort and inspire other families who face a grave illness, Merrow's moving, deeply personal memoir of survival is a testament to the love of life and the joy of family.

Later in my college years to be inspired by others who read some of my work. Also being inspired by the great Langston Hughes reading his poetry gave me the inspiration to write more with thoughts about life and endless images. Throughout my vision of writing ideas exploded into words and then formed into a poem or story. Writing was always my way of expressing my feelings and thoughts. Furthermore I experienced similar episodes of my own which gave me fruit for thought in my own travels.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Its amazing how we take the little things in life for granted; being able to walk, to see, to hear, and to talk. Some people are not able to do one or a multiple combinations of these things. And what do we do with these basic but blessed abilities; turn a blind eye to the things we dont want to believe, not give a second thought to listen to what others have to say in their defense but invite in the negative tongue that speaks on another to diminish ones character. Why? Why is it that in this society we are so quick to believe or fall into that negative influence instead of standing tall and finding out for ourselves before we lash out and slander our own tongue on a word that may not have any value of truth behind it? A persons character should always be put into consideration before even opening your mind to allow such words to be spoken from their lips. Its time to step aside and throw away all the nonsense everyone is so eager to feed off of. I refuse to try to sway another into feeling a certain way about another, I let the facts speak for themselves. Im done feeding off the nonsense and baring a false tongue. Its time to stand up and grow out of these habits. I know some people are so stuck in their ways that they dont see any room for change or believe anything they do isnt wrong but there is this essence of karma we all know that will forever be in their midst. There is only a few who will own up to changing and without this change, the only thing left for us to do is destroy one another.

Book The Poetics of Childhood

Download or read book The Poetics of Childhood written by Roni Natov and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-06-03 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Poetics of Childhood investigates the sensibility of childhood and the ways writers try to recapture it. It explores the earliest conceptions of innocence and the development of literature about children through contemporary times. It encompasses the pastoral, the dark pastoral, the anti-pastoral; it addresses picture books, fantasy, and realism. It looks with originality at the literature of childhood, inclusive of children's literature and literature about childhood, so that the child and adult can be seen reflexively--the child in the adult and the various stages of childhood as they are remembered and retained in adulthood. It confronts issues of primal and socially constructed desire adn the use of childhood to talk about desire. It is a poetics, a way of imagining the experience of childhood and explores childhood as a particulary fluid and porous time, it also addresses issues of creativity. This is an essential reference for teachers, parents, artists, and writers.

Book excerpt: I wrote these poems from my soul to help someone on the journey they may be walking. Life is like shiny sequins sometimes flashy most times you lose some pieces. Like the fabric when you rub the pattern of sequin in one direction against the grain it may be rough in the other direction it will be smooth; such is my metaphor for my life. Like the fabric of life in spite of a few tugs that leave a space or two without sequins. I still maintain and shine just the same. My life has been a purposeful journey to birth this book of poetry it’s a part of fulfilling my purpose to inspire through words. We all have an audience to reach and we have something to contribute to this world through our experiences. I grew up reading Dr. Wayne W. Dyer’s books from the first to the last. The impact of his words were jewels that made my life challenges lessons for my spiritual growth. I hope these simple poems ordered from A to Z will reveal some positive revelations I found to help me on my journey through life. Just pick a problem and open the book to any poem you will have a new perspective on any situation; if you like just sit back and enjoy from beginning to end. Things will happen in life the most important thing to remember is you are love, remain whole and keep shining your light. Therefore, I present poetry from my spirit entitled Sequin Soul.
