Clementine Daly knows she’s the black sheep. Her wealthy, powerful family has watched her very closely since she almost got caught in an embarrassing scandal a few years ago. So when Clementine’s sent on a mission to live up to the Daly name, politely declining isn’t an option. Of course, the last thing she does before boarding the plane is to grab a stranger’s phone by mistake—leaving the hunky journalist with her phone. Soon his sexy voice is on the line, but he doesn’t know her real name, or her famous pedigree—which is just the way Clementine likes it. Despite all the hassles, Justin Mueller is intrigued to realize that the beautiful brown-eyed girl he met at the airport is suddenly at his fingertips. They agree to exchange phones when they’re both back in town, but after a week of flirty texts and wonderfully intimate conversations, Justin doesn’t want to let her go. The only problem? It turns out that Clemetine has been lying to him about, well, everything. Except for the one thing two people can’t fake, the only thing that matters: The heat between them is for real. Book excerpt: From USA Today bestselling author Kilby Blades, a tale of first teenage love, complete with interfering friends and mixtapes... Compared to life on tour with her wannabe rock star mother, finishing high school in Rye is a snooze. At least Roxy has her best friend, Zoë, her dad, and her music. When her standoffish Civics class partner, Jag Monroe, breaks ranks and randomly friends her on Instagram, Roxy swiftly declines. Jag is Roxy's total opposite: stinking rich, conceited, and hot in that obvious kind of way. Roxy's sure that his repeated friend requests must be a joke. Then Zoë does the unthinkable: snatches Roxy's phone, accepts Jag's latest friend request, and follows him back. As the posts (and sparks) fly, Roxy begins to suspect that Jag may not be as shallow as everyone thinks, and that he may be into more than just her music. “This YA mosaic novel uses music as an effective backdrop for a tale of social media, drama, and romance.” - Publisher’s Weekly review of Friended, Book 1 in the Modern Love series "This book is super hilarious, and the music references make me want to pull up Spotify and disappear in them for awhile." - Auburn, Goodreads Reviewer "This novel was funny, nostalgic, and heartwarming. With a depth you would find surprising." -Isiah, Goodreads Reviewer "A fabulous story of teen love. I love that this story is about the ice breaking, the friends, and the scary parts. A great book." - Teen Angel, Amazon Reviewer Awards and Accolades for Friended - 1st Place Winner: 2019 New England Reader’s Choice Award - 2nd Place Winner: 2019 International Digital Award - Finalist: 2019 WISRWA Write Touch Award - Finalist: 2019 National Excellence in Romantic Fiction Award - Finalist: 2019 CRWA Stiletto Contest - Finalist: 2019 Book Buyer’s Best Contest

Book Sometimes They Came Back

Download or read book Sometimes They Came Back written by Ron Neff Ph.D and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2022-08-11 with total page 173 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Markus owned – and was duly proud – of a well-used, but still fast and flashy Porsche sports coupe. Was that flashy car one of the reasons that young pretty after young pretty came chasing after him? Only a freshman in college, Markus had no idea. Women were a mystery, to be sure. Albeit a welcome mystery. Sometimes he thought he’d really like to find “the one.” But what was the rush? In the meantime, this fledging undergraduate had become a collector. When one of his flames dumped him, she would often leave behind a bracelet, an earring or two, a scarf, or some other personal item. Markus would stash away any such item with care. It was a way to keep a part of every one of those lovers with him. Besides, sometimes they came back. Markus was a dreamer. He was also an incurable romantic. That’s why he stashed away every little item a lost partner might leave behind. Every one of those cuties was special to him. And maybe – just maybe – one of those special cuties would come back someday, not to claim her lost item or two. But to claim him. If only it were that simple. Love never is, of course. Instead, Markus finally had to admit that his heart had made a claim of its own.

Download or read book Reuse Misuse Abuse written by Jaimie Baron and published by Rutgers University Press. This book was released on 2020-11-13 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In contemporary culture, existing audiovisual recordings are constantly reused and repurposed for various ends, raising questions regarding the ethics of such appropriations, particularly when the recording depicts actual people and events. Every reuse of a preexisting recording is, on some level, a misuse in that it was not intended or at least anticipated by the original maker, but not all misuses are necessarily unethical. In fact, there are many instances of productive misuse that seem justified. At the same time, there are other instances in which the misuse shades into abuse. Documentary scholars have long engaged with the question of the ethical responsibility of documentary makers in relation to their subjects. But what happens when this responsibility is set at a remove, when the recording already exists for the taking and repurposing? Reuse, Misuse and Abuse surveys a range of contemporary films and videos that appropriate preexisting footage and attempts to theorize their ethical implications.

Whether they write for a small group of friends or in the hopes of creating a smash hit, aspiring songwriters can learn how to focus on topics essential to their success in this competitive field; every songwriter must be aware of audience, thick-skinned enough to handle rejection and competition, and most importantly have the confidence to master the craft of composing and producing. Perricone teaches readers to accomplish this through a targeted series of lessons on key elements of songwriting from building blocks like melody, harmony, and rhythm to more advanced topics like lyric placement and tone texture. Chapters explore loop-based harmonic patterns, tone tendencies, form, function, and lyric writing, all in service of preparing the aspiring songwriter to be a master of prosody and keen in understanding the relationship between words and music. The volume includes examples of exceptional songwriting from well-known artists such as Irving Berlin, Prince, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake, and Taylor Swift.
