The original Friday shaft, sunk on an outcrop of gossan containing a few dollars per ton in gold, was abandoned and now is covered by dump material, but a later shaft, south Of the Old one, was accessible in 1944. Partly oxidized sulfide minerals were found on the 132-foot level and more massive sulfides on the 180-foot level, which is the lowest in the mine.
