Book Radiometric Calibration Theory and Methods

Download or read book Radiometric Calibration Theory and Methods written by Clair Wyatt and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Radiometric Calibration: Theory and Methods contains an engineering development of the theories and methods of radiometric calibration. This book is organized into 18 chapters. Chapters I to V present an introduction to nomenclature, radiation geometry, and blackbody radiation that serves to simplify the discussion of the calibration theory. The rest of the chapters provide the theory of sensor calibration, reviewing numerous examples in which laboratory equipment and specific techniques are described. Algorithms are also covered for digital computer processing as appropriate for each functional aspect of sensor characterization. This publication is intended for engineers and applied physicists concerned with sensor calibration and the interpretation of sensor data.

Book Calibration of a Magnetic Spectrometer Designed to Measure 0 1 1 0 MeV Electrons in Space

Download or read book Calibration of a Magnetic Spectrometer Designed to Measure 0 1 1 0 MeV Electrons in Space written by Paul L. Rothwell and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report describes the recalibration of a magnetic spectrometer designed to measure the 0.1- to 1.0-MeV electron flux in a space environment. A different technique from that of the original calibration was used. In the present case, a Monte Carlo computer program and beta source measurements are used to determine the detected energies and their detection efficiencies. The mean energies were 20 to 40 keV higher and the normalizations were a factor of two higher than those previously found. Systematic errors effects and the degree of elastic scattering off the magnet faces are analyzed. (Author).

Book A Guide to the Use and Calibration of Detector Array Equipment

Download or read book A Guide to the Use and Calibration of Detector Array Equipment written by Gordon R. Hopkinson and published by SPIE Press. This book was released on 2004 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The guide arose from a survey of UK users and manufacturers/developers to assess detector equipment usage and calibration, in order to identify the factors influencing the accuracy of measurements obtained with detector array equipment, and thus develop calibration techniques and establish best practice procedures. The text contains both a review of the existing literature and a large amount of new experimental data obtained during the course of the study. The main emphasis has been on UV, visible, and near-infrared systems that use silicon detector technology, but the issues arising in thermal imaging with infrared detector arrays have also been addressed, along with brief sections on EM CCDs for low-light-level imaging and on lag effects in CMOS active pixel sensors.

Book An Internally Calibrated Electron Spectrometer for Accelerator Energy Monitoring

Download or read book An Internally Calibrated Electron Spectrometer for Accelerator Energy Monitoring written by M. J. Fritts and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An internally calibrated electron spectrometer was developed for use in calibrating the AFCRL Dynamitron and Van de Graaf accelerators. The spectrometer utilizes a Bi207 source which emits internal conversion electrons of precisely known energies. The system can be attached to the accelerators easily and yields a resolution of better than 1 percent. (Author).

Book Construction and Calibration of a Neutral Gas Spectrometer with Open Cathodeless Electron impact Ion Source for Density Measurements in the Upper Atmosphere

Download or read book Construction and Calibration of a Neutral Gas Spectrometer with Open Cathodeless Electron impact Ion Source for Density Measurements in the Upper Atmosphere written by H. Trinks and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Up to now, a reliable determination of the number density of atomic oxygen in the atmosphere by means of mass spectrometers has not been accomplished. Presumably, losses of O occur at the ion source walls and at the filament. Therefore, a mass spectrometer has been developed having an electron-impact ion source where the electrons are produced by a multiplier together with a UV lamp. To minimize the influence of impacts at the walls, the ion source was designed with a wide open geometry. The spectrometer was calibrated by means of a gas flow method with a gas flow of 50 liters/sec produced by a helium cooled cryopump. Neither oil nor mercury pumps were employed in the system. The calibration results are given, and the calculated mass discrimination curve is discussed and compared with that of a monopole spectrometer using an ion source with a hot filament.

Book Practical Calibration of Optical Spectrometers for Field Measurements

Download or read book Practical Calibration of Optical Spectrometers for Field Measurements written by HONEYWELL RADIATION CENTER LEXINGTON MASS. and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The calibration objectives of spectrometric, photometric, and radiometric instruments for field measurements are given. The instrumental optical properties which are to be ascertained are: (1) background noise levels, (2) field of view, (3) frequency response, (4) absolute spectral scan position, (5) optical resolution, (6) relative spectral response, (7) absolute responsivity, (8) spectral purity. The important technical definitions, meanings and relationships are given. The special considerations and practical limitations encountered are discussed, as appropriate, in each of four regions of the electromagnetic spectrum. These wavelength ranges of interest are categorized as UV (1800 to 4000 A), visible (4000 to 10,000 A), SWIR (1 to 5 micrometers and LWIR (5 to 25 micrometers) according to the optical detector properties and operating requirements which are distinct in each region. (Author).

Book Test and Calibration of the AFCRL Raindrop Spectrometer

Download or read book Test and Calibration of the AFCRL Raindrop Spectrometer written by Robert F. Myers and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The general description of the 90 degrees scattering measurements of raindrop size distribution, as implemented in the AFCRL Airborne Raindrop Spectrometer, is given. The calibration procedures for the drop generator show long-time stability of the order of 01 mm drop diameter. The techniques for calibrating the spectrometer are described with the information required for data reduction. Calibration data for the simple current-to-voltage transducer and for a signal processor which removes the background illumination signal and stretches the drop pulse are presented. (Author).

Book Calibration of a Flat Field Soft X ray Grating Spectrometer for Laser Produced Plasmas

Download or read book Calibration of a Flat Field Soft X ray Grating Spectrometer for Laser Produced Plasmas written by and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We have calibrated the x ray response of a variable line spaced grating spectrometer, known as the VSG, at the Fusion and Astrophysics Data and Diagnostic Calibration Facility at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). The VSG has been developed to diagnose laser produced plasmas, such as those created at the Jupiter Laser Facility and the National Ignition Facility at LLNL, and at both the Omega and Omega EP lasers at University of Rochester's Laboratory for Laser Energetics. The bandwidth of the VSG spans the range from (almost equal to) 6 to 60 Å. The calibration results present here include the VSG's dispersion and quantum efficiency. The dispersion is determined by measuring the x rays emitted from hydrogen-like and helium-like ions of carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, neon, and aluminum. The quantum efficiency is calibrated to an accuracy of 30% or better by normalizing the x ray intensities recorded by the VSG to those simultaneously recorded by an x ray microcalorimeter spectrometer.
