Download or read book Thermodynamic Properties of Organic Compounds written by George J. Janz and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thermodynamic Properties of Organic Compounds: Estimation Methods, Principles and Practice, Revised Edition focuses on the progression of practical methods in computing the thermodynamic characteristics of organic compounds. Divided into two parts with eight chapters, the book concentrates first on the methods of estimation. Topics presented are statistical and combined thermodynamic functions; free energy change and equilibrium conversions; and estimation of thermodynamic properties. The next discussions focus on the thermodynamic properties of simple polyatomic systems by statistical thermodynamic methods. Discussed are molecular energy of an ideal gas; partition function and thermodynamic properties; and calculation of statistical thermodynamic functions. The book also notes the dynamic properties of long chain hydrocarbons and the method of structural similarity. Tabulations and numerical representations are presented as well. Discussions also focus on methods of group contributions and group equations. Included are paraffins, unsaturated carbons, cyclic hydrocarbons, and nonhydrocarbon groups. The last part of the text focuses on heat formation and heat capacity; the applications of thermodynamic method; and numerical data. Included in the discussions are bond energies and binding energies; gaseous free radicals and ions; and hydrogenation of benzene. The book is an important source of data for readers interested in studying the thermodynamic characteristics of organic compounds.

This book was released on 2018-09-23 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For several decades the NASA Glenn Research Center has been providing a file of thermodynamic data for use in several computer programs. These data are in the form of least-squares coefficients that have been calculated from tabular thermodynamic data by means of the NASA Properties and Coefficients (PAC) program. The source thermodynamic data are obtained from the literature or from standard compilations. Most gas-phase thermodynamic functions are calculated by the authors from molecular constant data using ideal gas partition functions. The Coefficients and Properties (CAP) program described in this report permits the generation of tabulated thermodynamic functions from the NASA least-squares coefficients. CAP provides considerable flexibility in the output format, the number of temperatures to be tabulated, and the energy units of the calculated properties. This report provides a detailed description of input preparation, examples of input and output for several species, and a listing of all species in the current NASA Glenn thermodynamic data file.Zehe, Michael J. and Gordon, Sanford and McBride, Bonnie J.Glenn Research CenterCOMPUTER PROGRAMS; HEAT OF FORMATION; THERMODYNAMICS; ENTROPY; SPECIFIC HEAT; TABLES (DATA); COEFFICIENTS

Download or read book Molecular Structure and Statistical Thermodynamics written by Kenneth S. Pitzer and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1993 with total page 537 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book considers molecular structural information, statistical methods and thermodynamic measurements, and the ways in which the relative role of each differs from another. By putting together selected papers in a single publication, the book highlights the cohesive aspects of certain advances through time and development, and can aid historical studies. Several papers from journals not widely circulated can also be found in this selection of papers.
